The Stand

If you want to keep it real, here's a hint

For the month of August, every spare room, cellar and out-house lav in Edinburgh is turned into a comedy venue.

Last year someone even used his Ford Escort as a place to perform. The show was okay but accoustics were terrible.

If, after your N'th gig, you decide what you actually want is the intimate, relaxed atmosphere of a real comedy club, you should make a visit to The Stand.

The Stand is Scotland's famous full-time comedy venue. It has been presenting internationally famous comics whilst also nuturing home-grown talent since 1995. It's open seven days a week, more or less all year round.

The real joy of the place is that it's a permanent venue for comedy. You mix with the locals and enjoy a bill of five or so great talents for around six quid.

You can eat there too. And, of course, drink.
