Neil Oliver continues his exploration of how Britain and its peoples came to be, forged over thousands of years of ancient history.
In tonight's episode, he sees how the world of powerful Celtic kings was torn apart by an even greater force – the Roman Empire. This is the first battle for Britain, the rebellions of Queen Boudicca, and the creation of the forts, roads and Hadrian's Wall.
The Roman Empire was expanding and for the Celtic tribes of Britain and Gaul it was an economic boom time. However, the boom did not last as Rome waged war first on Gaul and then, under the command of Julius Caesar, attacked Britain.
Travelling from Kent to the River Thames, Neil tracks the bloody battles that marked the beginning of Roman Britain and along the way examines skeletons that reveal evidence of Roman artillery and the creation of the first Roman roads and forts. He examines the rebellion led by Queen Boudicca which, although eventually defeated, was successful in killing thousands of Romans in St Albans, London and Colchester. This was also the time that one of the greatest symbols of the ancient world was created – Hadrian's Wall.

A team of midwives continue to take pregnant women who binge drink, chain smoke and overeat and help them get back into shape before they give birth, as Misbehaving Mums To Be continues.
Each week, three soon-to-be mums work with the specialist midwives, who use their extensive experience and cutting-edge technology to help these young mums get back in shape for one of the most important events of their lives.
Teen mum-to-be Natalie is expecting twins. Now six months pregnant, she is drastically under-eating and is relying on a diet of toast and supplement pills to keep off the weight. From one extreme to the other, the programme also meets overweight Kimberly, who is five months pregnant and living off a diet of junk food and takeaways.
Meanwhile, 19-year-old Charlie, who at five months pregnant is smoking 20 cigarettes a day, is completely unaware of the harm she is causing her unborn baby.
Can the midwives convince these unhealthy women to quit their damaging ways for the sake of their babies or will they continue to ignore the warnings regarding their health and that of their unborn children?
Misbehaving Mums To Be is part of BBC Three's Bringing Up Britain Season, on TV and online.
