On-loan Burnley striker Kian McMahon-Brown scored his first professional goal to set Shrewsbury on their way
Kian McMahon-Brown and Kevin Berkoe scored first-half goals as Shrewsbury Town returned to winning ways in League Two with a 2-0 victory over Northampton Town.
Gavin Cowan's men had lost back-to-back away games without scoring but, within 24 hours of the identity of Salop's prospective new American owners being revealed, McMahon-Brown further lifted the mood on his home debut, taking just eight minutes to find the target as he rifled a strike beyond Zach Jeacock.
Josh Davison almost made it two when he flashed a long-range effort past the post.
Shrewsbury keeper Will Brook produced a good save to keep out Harvey Saunders on the half hour, while McMahon-Brown was denied a second when his volley hit the post.

Midfielder Berkoe then doubled Salop's lead on the stroke of half-time when he pounced to poke home the rebound after Davison's header was saved.
Jeacock kept McMahon-Brown out with a low save at his near post after the hour before Brook denied Owen Dale's strike at the other end.
But Shrewsbury hung on for a second straight home win to leave the Cobblers still waiting for an away win this season.
