John Marquis scored twice as Woking ended a three-game winless National League run in style as they thrashed Altrincham 5-1 at The Laithwaite Community Stadium.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when Roy Syla delivered to the back post for Matt Ward to slot home.

It did not take long for Woking to double their advantage as four minutes later Ward became provider for Marquis, who claimed his first goal for the club on his home league debut.

Woking were awarded a penalty after 37 minutes, with Marquis making no mistake, but Aidan Barlow pulled one back for Altrincham a minute before the break.

Timmy Akinola made it four on the hour mark with his first of the season and Syla joined in on the scoring 11 minutes later to cap an impressive display.
