Jordan Hugill and Nathan Sheron each scored twice as Hartlepool United ended a six-match losing run in the National League with a 4-2 win at managerless Forest Green.
Veteran striker Hugill opened the scoring from the penalty spot in first-half added time to claim his first goal since joining as a free agent in the summer.
Midfielder Sheron doubled the lead by heading home in the 48th minute and Pools appeared to be cruising to victory after Hugill fired in from distance nine minutes later.
Forest Green, whose former boss Robbie Savage left to join Peterborough earlier this month, were given a lifeline when Omari Patrick turned in Kelvin Abrefa's cross in the 65th minute.
Kyle McAllister smashed home a penalty five minutes later to set up a tense finale before Sheron rifled in from distance three minutes from time to lift Hartlepool out of the relegation zone on goal difference.
