Get Involved - Could West Ham equal their own record?published at 13:21 BST

I'm not sure if West Ham are capable of stringing two wins together now, but it's entirely possible for them to equal their own record of 42 points whilst being relegated.

    Will, Nottingham

That is true. West Ham would finish on 42 points with two wins.

The Hammers set that record in the 2002-03 season, when they finished in 18th place on 42 points.

Bolton Wanderers beat Middlesbrough at home on the final day to reach 44 points and stay up in 17th place.

West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen was not sugar-coating the task facing the Hammers, but he wasn't about to shy away from it either in his post match interview on Sunday.

"It's going to be tough," agreed the England winger, echoing the sentiments of manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

"We never say never at this club. We have two games left. We did a lot of good things on Sunday. We have to win."

People getting carried away saying this decision is why West Ham will be relegated. If you think yesterday’s 1 point is the difference, then you’re ignoring the run from September to October of Spurs, Palace, Everton, Arsenal, Brentford, Leeds. 1 point from those 6 games is why they will go.

Lack of consistency in officiating upsetting - Espirito Santo

    Back to West Ham...

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo conceded after Sunday's defeat at home to Arsenal that his side now faces an uphill battle to remain in the Premier League.

"It's going to be tough," the Hammers boss told BBC Sport.

"It's not in our hands. We fight for it and we will keep on fighting. It is our responsibility - we represent a huge club and it's our obligation to go for it in these last two games."

West Ham's last season outside the top flight was 2011-12.

  8. How soon could West Ham be relegated?published at 12:50 BST

    Emlyn Begley
    BBC Sport reporter

West Ham could feasibly be relegated on Sunday - with a week of the Premier League season to go.

That would happen if Tottenham beat Leeds tonight (Monday) and the Hammers lose at Newcastle next weekend.

Spurs, who are one point above the Hammers with a game in hand, will be safe if they win two of their final three games.

After playing Leeds, they face Chelsea away and then Everton at home on the final day.

West Ham, who host Leeds on the final day, will need to pick up at least two points more than Spurs because of a significantly inferior goal difference.

It is fair to point out that West Ham have won just nine, drawn nine and lost 18 of their 36 matches so far this season.

That record - especially in the early part of the season, before current manager Nuno Espirito Santo got to grips with the team's issues and started to turn results around - has put West Ham in a perilous position...

  11. Recap - Did VAR get it right in Arsenal win?published at 12:38 BST

    West Ham 0-1 Arsenal

We took a deep dive into Sunday's crucial VAR decision this morning, and have since been looking at Arsenal's dramatic win against West Ham and its implications at both ends of the Premier League table.

The game - and perhaps this season's title race - was defined by a Hammers equaliser that was disallowed following VAR intervention - and there's been no shortage of debate on the call.

Here's a look at everything we have looked at so far:

  12. Complaints to PGMO are purely performativepublished at 12:35 BST

Just hours after the final whistle, news emerged through briefings to the media that West Ham were to lodge an official complaint to PGMO, the refereeing body headed by Howard Webb.

This is almost always a performative act to deflect away from a result.

Nottingham Forest did it when current West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was in charge at the City Ground. In fact, Forest have done it many times, under different managers.

Manchester United complained a couple of months ago when Amad Diallo didn't get a penalty against Bournemouth. As did Tottenham. And Fulham, too.

On each occasion, the affected team did not win the match. In these specific cases, no mistake was logged by the key match incidents panel.

West Ham also said they would request the VAR audio of the incident, as though it is something which is kept from clubs.

Yet the VAR audio is routinely made available to clubs upon request.

The next edition of Match Officials Mic'd up airs on Tuesday, and it would be a surprise if this incident is not included.

Webb has not shied away from including the most high-profile of incidents, especially if they happen the day before the show is filmed.

We'll all probably hear the VAR audio soon enough.

West Ham will contact the Professional Game Match Officials (PGMO) to raise concerns and request further explanation following the controversial decision to disallow their late equaliser against Arsenal on Sunday.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side thought they had equalised against the Premier League leaders when substitute Callum Wilson hammered home a finish in a packed penalty box following a corner.

But after a video assistant referee (VAR) review, the goal was ruled out for a foul by Pablo on Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.

A lot of chat about the goal that was disallowed, but if West Ham wanted a point from the game by scoring in stoppage time, then don’t do anything stupid and give the referees or VAR opportunity to disallow it.

  15. West Ham survival hopes fading - Optapublished at 12:24 BST

West Ham may be only one point from safety at present, but their chances of avoiding relegation from the Premier League are fading fast, according to Opta.

Tottenham, who are 17th in the table, one place above the Hammers, can extend their advantage to four points with a victory at home to Leeds United tonight.

With that in mind, the latest prediction made by Opta's supercomputer shows that West Ham have an 86.65% chance of finishing in the final relegation place.

While Spurs' chances of falling below the Hammers to finish in the relegation places are currently just 13.35%.

  16. Poll: Who will be relegated in 18th place?published at 12:21 BST

After Sunday's results, we now know that one of only two Premier League sides can join Wolves and Burnley in the Championship next season.

But which side will it be?

Either West Ham or Tottenham will be relegated in 18th place - take the poll below:

  17. Spurs looking to pull clear of relegation zonepublished at 12:18 BST

    Tottenham v Leeds (20:00 BST)

    Premier League bottom six

    And then there were two!

Sunday's result means it's now a straight scrap between West Ham and Tottenham to avoid being the team to join Burnley and Wolves in the Championship next season.

Nottingham Forest (15th) and Leeds United (16th) are now mathematically safe with two games to spare.

The defeat by Arsenal leaves West Ham in 18th - one point behind Tottenham and seven behind Forest and Leeds, who are level on 43 points.

Spurs can further pull away from the relegation zone if they win against visitors Leeds United tonight (20:00 BST).
