Substitute Pacheco strikes late as Everton sink Leicester City
Everton substitute Maz Pacheco heaped misery on struggling Leicester City with an injury time winner at Goodison Park.
In their final game before their relegation play-off against Charlton next weekend, the Foxes were moments away from their first league clean sheet since December before Pacheco tapped in from close range in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
Earlier, Foxes captain Sam Tierney had missed a gilt-edged chance to grab the winner, but Everton goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan made a double save, stopping Tierney then palming Olivia McLoughlin's follow-up over the bar.
The result extends Leicester's run of league defeats to 11 and adds a third home win for Everton, who have struggled to get results at Goodison Park in their first full season at the stadium.
In her second league start for Leicester, 19-year-old goalkeeper Katie Keane tipped Yuka Momiki's free kick wide to ensure the hosts had nothing to show for early dominance.
Leicester grew into the game and Shannon O'Brien, who has scored 45% of the Foxes' 11 WSL goals this season, almost scored the opener with a strike on the turn from eight yards out – but Brosnan reacted quickly to push the ball onto the post.
At the other end, Zara Kramzar struck a rasping shot from the edge of the box but it hit the woodwork and an evenly-matched first half ended goalless.
Everton were edging a stop-start second period with half-chances for Momiki and Clare Wheeler, as both sides struggled to find the attacking quality needed for a breakthrough.
Again, Leicester began to turn the screw as the half progressed, and Tierney showed admirable intent to snatch the ball from under Wheeler's nose to create her match-winning opportunity – but Brosnan kept a clean sheet.
With both sides throwing everything at a winner, it was Everton who delivered through Pacheco, who was assisted by Katja Snoeijs to score her first league goal for the Toffees.
Analysis - Hopeful signs on eve of Foxes' crunch play-off

Leicester City's losing streak of 11 games is among the longest in Women's Super League history
With the final day of the Women's Super League season came bottom-placed Leicester's last chance to prove themselves.
At Goodison Park, the Foxes rounded off a second successive league season without an away win and Pacheco's late goal inflicted a 17th defeat on Leicester - matching the league's record for the most losses suffered by a team that aren't a newly-promoted side.
On paper, these numbers give hope to Charlton Athletic, who finished third in the WSL 2 and face Leicester in a play-off to decide which side takes the 14th place in next season's expanded WSL.
But there were signs of life in Passmoor's side, who defended well until Pacheco's agonising winner.
The league leaders for late lapses of concentration, the Foxes have conceded 12 goals in the last 15 minutes of games this season. So staying resolute until the whistle will be a key focus for Passmoor this week as he readies his side for a make-or-break visit to the Valley.
Leicester defender Julie Thibaud expressed positivity as she collected her player of the match award: "We have a big game next week. We wanted to take this game to build our confidence, I think we did it. We had a good performance.
"Today we had a really good moment with the ball, in possession. We were calm on the ball, we found players, we had different options. I think we're going to take that and use it for the next game."
