Grimsby Town have signed midfielders Fin Cartwright and Mark Shelton on loan for the rest of the season.

Teenager Cartwright is heading to Blundell Park from Middlesbrough, while Shelton makes the move on York City.

He made his Boro debut aged 16 in an EFL Cup tie in 2023, but now 19, he has only played once more.

Shelton, 29, only joined York in May upon the expiry of his contract at Barnet, but he has not featured under new Minstermen head coach Scott Lindsey.

However, he scored 20 goals in his two seasons at Barnet and he has been involved in four promotions during his career.

"Mark's got a really good understanding of League Two and has played a lot of football at this level and in the National League," said, external Grimsby head coach David Artell.

"He's also been part of teams that have won promotion, which is important because he knows what it takes to compete at the top end of a division."
