Occupy Inec: Atiku, Obi, ADC leaders protest against Inec for Abuja

Atiku Abubabar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso and oda leaders of di coalitio, party, African Democratic Congress (ADC) don gada for Abuja to protest ova di decision of Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec) to derecognise dem.

Led by di David Mark-faction of di party, dem gada wit dia supporters for Abuja, wit placards and banners wey get different writing ontop.

Dis protest dey come afta Inec tok say dem no longer go recognise former Senate President David Mark and former Osun State govnor Rauf Aregbesola as di chairman and secretary of di ADC.

Inec say dia decision na sake of one order from di court of appeal afta one former deputy national chairman of ADC, Nafiu Bala Gombe, bin go court to challenge di David Mark and Aregbesola leadership.

But now, ADC and dia supporters don come out to protest, as dem dey accuse President Bola Tinubu say e no allow democracy for di kontri.

Di ADC reject di decision of Inec to remove di names of dia National Working Committee members comot dia portal sake of one Court of Appeal Court ruling.

Afta dat, dem hold one press conference wia dem demand make Inec apologise for wetin dem do and for di Inec chairman Joash Amupitan to resign.

Controversy still dey go on over allegation of conspiracy wey surround wetin dey happun inside Nigeria opposition party, ADC.

Leadership crisis for ADC start for July 2025 when party leaders resign, wey make David Mark come be interim chairman, while other executive members enter without opposition.

But, Nafi'u Gombe, challenge di process, say leadership must follow di party constitution..

For recent days, different developments don make di crisis worse inside ADC.

Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Kano govnor, warn Nafiu Bala, wey be factional national chairman of ADC, say im actions fit affect Nigeria democracy.

Kwankwaso tok say e invite Bala make dem meet to settle di matter peacefully, but Bala no show.

"We plan to meet yesterday, but even till morning e no come. Dem warn me say e no go come, and I really disappoint," Kwankwaso tok.

E say Bala actions dey spoil both di party and Nigeria democracy.

"As leader of dis movement, I believe say if I call am, e go come so I fit advise am like papa to son.

Since e born 1990, e still be young person wey need guidance. Wetin e dey do now no good for im future, ADC and Nigeria democracy," e add.

E beg anybodi wey fit reach Bala make dem advise am well, say make e stop to dey spoil di movement.

E also tok say documents and pictures dey wey show say Bala don resign bifor and attend events wit current leadership.

"Dis na serious matter, e must know im mistakes make we settle am. I dey give dis advice freely sake of say na for evribodi good," e add.

We no go allow anybody hijack ADC – Nafi'u Bala Gombe

Nafi'u Bala Gombe, wey dey centre of di leadership fight, explain to BBC Hausa why e dey oppose David Mark leadership.

ADC, wey get many big opposition figures, enter confusion afta INEC remove David Mark name as chairman from dia website sake of court ruling wey involve Nafi'u.

Nafi'u Bala Gombe tok say e still be di legitimate chairman of ADC, say dem underrate am bicos of im age, na why e stand up fight for im rights.

"Afta dem join ADC, dem declare demsef leaders to show say we dey below dem bicoss I young. Na God give me dis position, dem no fit override me.

Na why I stand my ground to show say even ordinary person matter. If una no go follow us, una no go stay for ADC," e tok.

E confirm say e appear for some viral videos, but say afta David Mark group meeting, e do press conference to distance imsef and file court case.

E say no correct for person to just join party and declare imsef leader immediately.

"Dem tink say dem fit suppress us bicos dem get power and money, na why we challenge dem," e tok.

E deny say na bicos e no get leadership or collect money to cause crisis.

"Na lie. I no know Ishaku Abbo. First time I see am na when dem join ADC. I even tell am say wetin dem do no follow democracy," e add.

Some big party members like Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Kwankwaso don call make Nafi'u step aside.

But e insist say "I hear say dem plan to push me aside. I don reach almost 50 years, I no see why person wey get 70 or 80 years go suppress me."

E say im door open for dialogue wit David Mark group, but dem must register under im leadership, and dem go treat dem fairly.

Anoda wahala afta third faction show for ADC

ADC crisis take new turn as third faction wey support 2023 presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu show up, and reject both David Mark and Nafiu Gombe groups.

For briefing in Abuja, di group support INEC decision to remove recognition of David Mark leadership based on Appeal Court ruling.

Di faction appoint Kogi State chairman, Kingsley Temitope, as interim national chairman, and reject Nafiu Bala Gombe leadership, say e no follow any credible process.

Di group, wey include some state chairmen, accuse former national chairman Ralph Nwosu say e try hand over di party to non-members led by Mark, and praise INEC for distancing from Mark group.

But Bolaji Abdullahi from Mark camp tok say na court go finally decide.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar say no need to worry about defection, say e still dey committed to ADC and believe say dem go settle issues legally.

For interview wit BBC Pidgin, Atiku reject tok say time no go favour im 2027 ambition.

"Observers no be lawyers… yes, we go meet up," e tok.

On INEC matter and David Mark faction, Atiku say dem no shake.

"We never even start ward congress," e tok, add say di case don go back to court.

E believe say court go settle di matter quickly and recognise Mark leadership.

On rumour say oda parties dey approach am, Atiku downplay am.

"Some of dis parties no get structure," e tok, say ADC still strong.

E add say opposition coalition wey e dey inside don dey develop for over one and half years.

Atiku say dem dey work to finish internal processes quickly so coalition go kontinu wit pipo like Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

On whether im chance for ADC presidential ticket 2027 don reduce, Atiku say no be true.

"Na coalition we agree evribodi be leader, and space dey for evribodi," e tok.
