Ray, in semaphore

Can you speak up a bit please?

Incy Wincy Spider signals his intentions

As summer comes to an end, a number of things occur. People stop playing cricket, it gets darker earlier, spiders come in from the cold and the carnival season comes to an end.

Potentially potent spider - possibly!

Call us posh, but because my wife, Shelley, works and I'm unable to operate the equipment, we have a lady called Karen to do our ironing.

Spider

Scary Spider on a mission

Well, I went home after a hard morning's work to find a note from Karen: "Aaarggh," it said. "Ray, can you sort that 'HUGE' spider on the ceiling, it's very scary!"

Well brave man that I am, I burst into action with nothing more than my hand in an attempt to rescue this poor creature, the spider, not Karen, and put it into the garden: but not before I took a photograph.

Brownie guide book

It's still Alison's favourite book

But now I'm hearing suggestions from Planet Ray listeners that this creature could be a danger to mankind - with it's hard back it was certainly different to any spider I'd ever seen...

An 'armless way to communicate

Ray Clark Breakfast Show producer Alison was once a Brownie, now somehow that news doesn't surprise me.

Alison in Brownie mode

Alison promises to do her best...

She's been looking in her Brownie guide book at the semaphore page - she got a Brownie badge for that - so apart from talking in my ear (which is what she has to do to make the show run smoothly), she's also taken to waving her arms about in order to communicate.

As yet we have no photo's available of Ali as a Brownie - watch this space!

Burnham carnival programmes

100 years of Carnival programmes too

100 years of Burnham Carnival

A very busy weekend in the soon-to-be breakaway Republic-of the Dengie Peninsula. I might just have made mention of the 100th anniversary of the event and that a book has been written. Look out for pictures in next week's Planet Ray Blog.

The story 'wot' you write

Brilliant story - Thanks to Wendy, Sandra, Marian and The Story Lady. Why don't you join in?
