1. Make the Time and Take the Time

We all have the same amount of time. The trick is to learn how to use it wisely. If you find are too busy to do the things that you love, it might be time to prioritise differently. It's your life and your time. Own it and spend it wisely.

Tip - Use one diary for all your life, not just work, and schedule everything in it, including the down time and treats.

2. Have the Confidence to be Honest

You are the only one who knows what you can and can't take on. Learn to be honest with yourself and with others. If you mean no, say NO. But also learn to say YES to the nice stuff.

Tip - Before you speak, stop for a moment and check that what you're about to say is the same as what you're thinking and how you're feeling, be honest.

3. Take action NOW
This may seem obvious but, nothing will happen unless you take action. If you're not happy where you are, or there's more you want to get out of life, it's up to you to make it happen. Nobody will do it for you, so what are you waiting for?

Tip
- Work out what it is you really want. Brainstorm the steps you need to take to get it; then start taking action!

4. Use WAM at least once a day.
WAM stands for 'What About Me?' Take time for yourself and create the balance you need. You are important and need to be looked after and treated. Don't end up bottom of your own list.

Tip
- Take some time or treat yourself at least once every day.

5. Get yourself a team

If you want your balance to last, it's wise to have people around you to support you. Nothing beats a strong team of people who are on your side. Let people know what matters to you and ask for their help in making it happen and maintaining balance.

Tip - Don't be afraid to ask - people love to help

6. Live in line with your values
Is what you do in line with your values and beliefs? If not, it may be time to rethink. Life's too short to spend it doing something you don't enjoy. If you do what you value you can't fail. You will feel satisfied and even the bad days won't seem so bad.

Tip
- Use your values as a guide when making decisions.
