There are almost a million courses available in the UK, so there's bound to be something to suit you and your needs. In addition, companies are keen to improve and retain their staff so may even pay for training costs or give you time off to attend or study.

• distance learning courses that can be fitted in around your existing commitments

• on the job with structured learning, goals, feedback and qualifications

• day release courses where you are given a day off a week to attend training

• learning holidays in residential or non-residential environments
