จันทร์เต็มดวงของแต่ละเดือน ล้วนมีชื่อประจำตัว

พระจันทร์หมาป่า คือ ฉายาของจันทร์เต็มดวงในเดือนมกราคม เนื่องจากเป็นช่วงที่หมาป่าส่งเสียงร้องมากกว่าปกติ ก่อนฤดูผสมพันธุ์ในเดือนกุมภาพันธ์
