Derry face tough Shels cup clash

Stephen Kenny's side beat Shels in the FAI Cup last season
Derry City have been handed a tough Carlsberg FAI Cup opener against Eircom League champions Shelbourne.

Pat Fenlon's Shels side, who currently lead the league table and are four points ahead of Derry, will have home advantage for the second round tie.

However, Derry did knock out Shelbourne from the FAI Cup last season and they also won the last Tolka Park encounter between the sides in November.

Second round ties will be played on the weekend of 10/12 June.

Derry and Shelbourne played out a scoreless draw in the Eircom League game at the Brandywell last month.

Holders Longford Town face an opener against junior club Waterford Crystal while Finn Harps must travel to face Kilkenny City.
