 Sean Hargan scored Derry's winner against Waterford United |
Derry City got their Eircom Premier League campaign back on the rails with a 1-0 win over Waterford United at the Brandywell on Friday night. Sean Hargan scored the winning goal after eight minutes when he headed Mark Farren's free powerfully past Packie Holden in the visitors' goal.
The free-kick was awarded for a foul on Farren by Alan Reynolds.
The Candystripes had lost their previous two league matches against Shamrock Rovers and UCD.
They were hanging on a bit at the end of a match they should have won by a bigger margin.
Winger Brian Cash should have put City two up on 57 minutes but he shot over from close-range.
