  1. Goodbye from Cardiffpublished at 14:34 BST

    FT: Wales 24-43 Italy

Well, the 2026 Six Nations is over for Wales Women - although the inquest will be only just beginning. That thrilling finish against Scotland on the opening weekend, when Wales were pushing for a dramatic late win, seems a very long time ago now.

Still plenty of action left today though, with Ireland and Scotland about top go head-to-head before the tournament decider between France and England.

Italian fans can at least watch on to see if their side can finish third in the table. Welsh supporters meanwhile, are left to reflect on a second consecutive whitewash.

    Thank you for following us.

    Sean Lynn reflecting on defeat:

"What I've just said to the players is that we've just got to be better. When you have the wind behind your back, you can't go into half-time 19-17 up, we leaked too many tries in that first half. In the second half, the breakdown just killed us.

"The big aim that we were going after today was that third quarter, that's been a really big area for us to be focusing on. We'll have to have a real deep dive into that."

    Bethan Lewis after full-time:

"Extremely difficult result, but we can't put any fault on anyone but ourselves today. We went into half-time on top and came out leaking penalties at the breakdown, giving soft turnovers, we can't win games like that. We've got some hard reflection to do now.

"We managed the end of the first half much better than last week and that's something we really wanted to work on. Discipline was also a massive thing to work on after last week and we haven't fixed that. If we give the ball away and give penalties away, we're going to pay for it."

It is now 10 straight Six Nations defeats for Wales, and back-to-back whitewashes.

For three games in this tournament, there were flashes of progress, particularly in attack against Scotland and England and Sean Lynn's side were resilient for long periods against France.

But the performances against Ireland and Italy have signified regression. For all the positive talk of late, the table does not lie and this is a team still a long way away from competing regularly with the best.

    Georgia Evans after full-time:

"Disappointment is probably the word. We're frustrated as well, as a group.

"We've made so many strives forward but it's still not showing on the scoreboard. That 30 minutes after half-time, we were going after that this week but we're going to have to have a look at ourselves to see what happened during that time. We went in 19-17 up at half-time, so it's disappointing.

"You can't fault the effort of the girls and as a collective, you can't help but smile when you're in a Wales jersey."

Despair for Wales but jubilation for Italy, who climb to third ahead of Ireland's game with Scotland.

They pose for a team photo on the pitch with masks of retiring great Valeria Fedrighi.

    "Valeria, Valeria, Valeria," they chant.

Sean Lynn honestly does believe in this team and he knows that they're on a journey.

He knows it will take time, but equally, it's so hard when it's loss after loss.

Small progressions are happening but it's not happening quick enough.

    That's it.

Another frustrating day for Wales, who led by two points at the break but were comprehensively outplayed in the second half.

Plenty for Sean Lynn & Co to ponder after another wooden spoon and whitewash.

    Reaction to come.

The clock is in the red but Wales are hunting another try to finish.

Looking at the scoreboard now, it's worth a reminder that the score at half-time was 19-17 to Wales.

A consolation bonus point for Wales, who at least won't be scoreless in the second half.

Full-back Kayleigh Powell with nice footwork to go over down the right from Lleucu George's kick-pass.

Another Italy break into the 22 and they make Wales pay, with wing D'Inca benefitting from a kind bounce from a cross-kick.

    The extras are added.

The man on the PA is trying to whip up the Welsh support but this game has drifted away from the home side.

This will put the coaching staff under the spotlight.

Wales' turn for a turnover and it is great work by young flanker Jorja Aiono to get over the ball.

Into the wind, Wales kick to 30 metres from their line.

They are scoreless in the second half and have created little.

Wales attack from a scrum but it is all so predictable.

They are turned over AGAIN and Italy tap the penalty and then kick a 50-22.

Wales don't compete at the lineout, they're late to hit the drive and suddenly, it's a 15-metre walking maul and the defence that we've praised all tournament has let them down massively in this game.

    Veronica Madia (Con: Michela Sillari)

    That's the game.

Italy - who are down to 14 - have bossed this second half and have their clincher.

A break down the left ends with fly-half Veronica Madia going over.

Michela Sillari adds the extras and it's surely done and dusted, Wales will suffer a second successive whitewash.

Italy hammer away but a crucial intervention to hammer hooker Vittoria Vecchini as she goes for the line.

The ball comes loose and Wales escape.

It has been confirmed that Granzotto's yellow will stay a yellow.

With Seren Lockwood on in place of Keira Bevan at scrum-half you'll see an injection in the pace of passing from the teenager.

She's the type of player who snipes around the rucks and is a lot less likely to box-kick than Bevan.

It will be interesting to see how Wales go about clearing their lines if their attack is going nowhere, a lot more pressure on Lleucu George's clearing kicks now.
