Just a word about Wyndham Clark's caddie David Pelekoudas, who has only been on his bag since March this year but did a superb job of keeping his man going despite some really bad swings, a few bad decisions and a lot of bad behaviour from the crowd.

Cheers for Scottie Scheffler were fair enough but jeers for Clark missing putts or hitting into bunkers crossed the line - but his caddie kept him calm and time after time told him to continue to have a "good process" on almost every swing.

And that process certainly worked down the stretch - especially on the greens - as Clark shouldered the most amount of prsssure possible to see it through.

A fully deserved US Open champion - again!

  4. 'A lot of redemption'published at 00:17 BST 22 June

More from Clark on how this compares with his first US Open win: "The first one was a breakthrough of knowing I can do it. This one was a lot of redemption.

"Last year was so tough, a terrible year. I left this place in shambles. It's amazing what a year can do.

"I'm leaving here this Sunday as a champion and I'm just so blessed."

  5. 'Some of it is self-deserved' - Clark on fanspublished at 00:13 BST 22 June

Wyndham Clark addresses the fact he didn't get much support from the crowd: "New York didn't really like me. I love you guys - but I get it. Some of it is self-deserved. I did some unfortunate things last year that I really regret. I've been sorry multiple times and I'm still sorry. Hopefully I can win you guys over eventually.

"I get it. They were rooting for Scottie. The Grand Slam has only happened a few times. He's going to get it - he's the best player in the world.

    "But today is my day."

  6. 'Surreal'published at 00:11 BST 22 June

More from Wyndham Clark at the presentation ceremony: "Very similar having to two-putt to win. It was surreal to be honest.

"To make all the putts I did has been amazing. But honestly it comes down to just believing good things are going to happen, you're going to make the putts. Fortunately I did!"

And there it is! Wyndham Clark lifts the US Open again.

"Yeah it seems like yesterday," says Clark to NBC's Mike Tirico. "It was surreal to be honest.

"I played some ugly golf the last two days but my putter and short game kind of kept me in it."

  8. Clark's quick doublepublished at 00:04 BST 22 June

Wyndham Clark's second US Open victory tonight came in just his sixth appearance in the event - only three players won two US Open titles in fewer starts.

    • 4 - John McDermott (1911, 1912)
    • 5 - Walter Hagen (1914, 1919)
    • 5 - Ernie Els (1994, 1997)
    • 6 - Lee Trevino (1968, 1971)

When you see Wyndham Clark build a lead like that, then see it through like that on a tough golf course against a tough crowd then you do wonder why he's not more of a factor in the majors.

He's got two US Open wins now in 19 majors but only one other top-five finish, with nine missed cuts! It really is all or nothing with Clark in the big ones.

He's been the top player all week but when the heat was on today, Wyndham Clark felt the pressure.

He dropped his rank considerably for every metric in his game but he clung on.

He needed every shot in that six-shot lead!

That was emotional wasn’t it. You could see him with his dad – it was joyous.

He kept his putter by his side all the way to the scorers’ tent!

He has very high peaks and very low lows and this is a very high peak.

You get US Open specialists and Wyndham Clark seems to be that kind of guy that thrives in the toughest of tests.

He’s done it on the west coast and now he’s done it on the east coast.

    Huge smiles.

There it is, he taps the ball in, gives a huge fist pump and roars with delight as Wyndham Clark wins the US Open for a second time.

The 2023 champion does it again, and in a similar style as well as he was forced to battle it out all the way during a stressful final round of 73.

He started the day with a six-shot lead but that melted away with three front-nine bogeys, but he just kept on plugging away.

Some wayward drives and some off-target irons meant Clark had to lean heavily on his short game, but time after time he managed to scramble his way to par after par - with his putter in particular doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Even the crowd seemed against him, but he hung tough and fully deserves his second US Open title in four runnings of the tournament.

What nerve and what composure to hit a putt as good as that.

    Superb.

You have to hold your hands up and say he deserves to win.

  16. That'll do!published at 23:46 BST 21 June

    Clark -4, Scheffler E (17)

Wyndham Clark, just as he did in Los Angeles three years ago, will win the US Open!

He plays a wonderful lag putt, like we expected anything less after the putting performance he's shown us all week at Shinnecock Hills, to leave just inches to tap in to win his second US Open title.

    Clark -4, Scheffler E (17)

It's 52 feet and four inches if you're interested. As has been mentioned it's pretty much the idential situation as Wyndham Clark faces in 2023 when he won his first US Open in Los Angeles.

    Same result here?

  18. How does a US Open play-off work?published at 23:42 BST 21 June

    It's a two-hole aggregate play-off over 17 and 18 - lowest score wins.

If that doesn't separate the players, then they go head to head, sudden death.

They've never actually used the current format of two holes. It used to be a full 18.

  19. On the greenpublished at 23:41 BST 21 June

    Clark -4, Scheffler E (17)

Wyndham Clark gets a great lie in the rough - we've said that a few times today - but he hates his second shot as he turns away in disgust.

But it's on the green, and on the front of the green as well so he'll be putting up the hill. Two putts from 50 feet to win the US Open.

  20. Kim finishes under parpublished at 23:39 BST 21 June

    Kim -1 (70), Theegala +2 (73)

Ahh, not to be for Tom Kim at the 18th.

It's a closing par for the South Korean, who marks his 24th birthday with a battling round of 70 and finishes one under.

He's currently solo third and that reflects an excellent week for a player who has slipped from 11th to 141st in the world rankings.

It's a closing 73 for Sahith Theegala. He didn't feature much today after a couple of early wobbles, but he finished with 12 straight pars and something tells me this won't be the last time he gives himself a sniff at a major.
