  1. Gibbs-White omission could still haunt Tuchelpublished at 11:29 BST

    Player of the season

    BBC Sport football news reporter

Only time will tell if Thomas Tuchel's decision to leave Morgan Gibbs-White at home for the World Cup is the right one.

The Nottingham Forest playmaker and the City Ground clearly think it was the wrong one after the best and most consistent season of the 26-year-old's career.

His goal against Bournemouth underlined his quality and the celebration was pointed while, on the terraces, the Forest fans made their feelings clear in their support for Gibbs-White and distain for Tuchel.

Gibbs-White's 15 Premier League goals this season leaves him as the second top English scorer in the top flight, only beaten by Ollie Watkins following the Aston Villa striker's double at Manchester City on the final day.

Morgan Gibbs-White has been the standout performer for Nottingham Forest this season and rounded his campaign off with a goal on the final day against Bournemouth on Sunday.

He celebrated by holding 10 fingers up - a message that he should be England's number 10 after being omitted from the World Cup squad?

Gibbs-White may have not got Thomas Tuchel's vote, but does he get your vote for player of the season?

What level is Erling Haaland on that 27 goals and it’s still getting called a poor season for him by pundits. I always find MGW and Thiago get my heart as doing it at a club with no expectations or relegation candidates is pretty incredible.

    Chris, Tamworth

People disrespect Erling because his numbers almost feel normal. But only by his own standards. A goal involvement per PL game - very impressive. Started the season with incredible numbers for City & Norway. Unfortunately tired in the last couple of months. Still the world's best striker without doubt.

To me player of the year should be Thiago for his goals record Fernandes had a great season but lets be honest he takes every free kick and corner kick surprised he doesn't take goal kicks young player easy Nico O'Reilly his maturity at such a young age.

    Kevin, Middlewich

Has to be Thiago... to score 22 goals for Brentford, the first Brazilian to hit 20. Incredible season and fully deserving Player of the Season.

Igor Thiago became the first Brazilian to score 20 or more goals in a single Premier League season for Brentford in 2025-26.

He fell just short in the race for the Golden Boot but did he do enough to win your race for player of the season?

The names on the list just show us what a poor premier league season this has been. None of these players have truly stood head and shoulders above the rest. Let’s hope next year brings a better quality of football.

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland claimed the Premier League's Golden Boot award for the third time in four seasons, finishing the 2025-26 campaign with 27 goals to his name.

City finished the year with two trophies but the Premier League evaded them.

Will Haaland's vote evade you, or is he your player of the year?

Get Involved - 'In an age of attacking football, it is important to recognise a player like Gabriel'published at 11:10 BST

With any of these awards (including Arsenal fans' own POTY) you have to ask, if not Gabriel and or especially Raya, what more could a CB or GK actually do? 19 clean sheets, 1 penalty conceded in 5 CL knockout games, 3rd successive golden glove, 8 goals/assists for Gabriel.

    Mark, Reading

In an age of attacking football I think it's important to recognise a player like Gabriel Magalhaes as player of the season. A consistent performer and the main part of Arsenal's defensive unit that kept so many clean sheets. Without him, it's unlikely they would have won the league.

    Damien, Ireland

For me the defensive strength of Arsenal is what won the Premier title for them. Raya was outstanding along with Gabriel and Saliba, apparently the stats demonstrate they’re the best in Europe. So, for the most part they played sometimes unattractive dull football they are deserved winners.

    Ciaran Kelly

Defenders do not often get individual recognition, but Gabriel has been a hugely influential figure in Arsenal's march towards the title.

I must admit that I did not rate the screaming Brazilian all that much when I first saw him play for Arsenal in a 2-0 defeat at St James' Park a few years ago.

But the much-improved centre-back has typified the journey Arsenal have gone on since that bruising night on Tyneside.

He has also embodied everything that has been so effective about Arteta's team this season.

Not only has Gabriel been a lynchpin in the top-flight's meanest defence – he has caused the opposition real problems at set-plays.

Part of a defensive duo that helped Arsenal secure their first Premier League title in 22 years, Gabriel has been a dominant force at the back for the Gunners.

He also chipped in up the other end of the field, too, but is that enough to get your vote for player of the season?

David Raya's 1v1 save against Mateus Fernandes in the West Ham game probably won Arsenal the title. I think he's got to be in real contention for PotS.

    Rob, Bexhill-On-Sea

David Raya has had an excellent season without doubt. Without him Arsenal wouldn't be champions. I don't know what has more weight, providing more assists to achieve 3rd place finish or winning the golden glove 3 years in row and helping your team win the Premier League.

    Gift, Nuneaton

From the list? David Raya as his contributions were very solid all year around and decisive on a few occasions.

    Peter, Brighton

David Raya, for sure. He kept many clean sheets . The West Ham save was my save of the season, given the enormity of what could have been if the ball had gone in. His spectacular saves to keep the score line to one nils to arsenal cannot be overlooked.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has been just as important, if not more, than defensive duo William Saliba and Gabriel.

Raya amassed 19 clean sheets in the Premier League this season, four more than any other goalkeeper and it was the joint most by an Arsenal goalkeeper in a single season, with David Seaman keeping 19 in both 1993-94 and 1998-99.

The definition of safe hands, but is he a safe bet for player of the season?

For me, it's Semenyo. He left Bournemouth riding high and put them in a good position which would lead them to Europe, and when he joined City he put them on the trajectory that almost got them the title. Plus he's respectful off the pitch which gives him bonus points.

    Derek, Weymouth

From the list? David Raya as his contributions were very solid all year around and decisive on a few occasions. Semenyo & Fernandes for their roles in my good results at FPL. From outside of the list: Szloboszlai & Truffert

Antoine Semenyo starred for not one, but two clubs throughout 2025-26.

The winger left Bournemouth to join Manchester City in January but still finished as the Cherries' second top scorer behind Eli Junior Kroupi.

He revitalised City upon his arrival and helped them on the way to two trophies.

  18. My player of the season - Bruno Fernandespublished at 10:43 BST

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport Chief Football News Reporter

There has been a lot of debate over this in various quarters because the belief seems to be that someone from Arsenal should get it because they are the champions.

I don’t view the situation like that at all.

Fernandes is someone you would pay to watch play. He makes risky passes, he creates goals.

His ability is not to defend the goal, it is working out ways to get the ball into it.

He started the season in a deeper position – to the detriment of Kobbie Mainoo – and did well. He was restored to a more offensive area by Michael Carrick and his numbers went up even more.

Do I think ‘most assists’ is a thing? I’m not sure. But I do know Manchester United would have got nowhere near to finishing third without him.

The Manchester United talisman delivered his 21st assist on a fitting final day of the season, a campaign that has brought him widespread recognition.

That record-breaking moment added to an outstanding season in which the United captain also won the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year and the Premier League Player of the Season awards.

It is deserved not only for his performances this season — in which he also scored nine goals as United finished a creditable third — but for his consistency over a longer period.

Fernandes has been a reliable performer since joining from Sporting in 2020 and, even during difficult periods for United, he has remained one of the Premier League’s most effective attacking players.
