  1. My player of the season - Bruno Fernandespublished at 10:35 BST

    Player of the season

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport Chelsea reporter

The Manchester United talisman delivered his 21st assist on a fitting final day of the season, a campaign that has brought him widespread recognition.

That record-breaking moment added to an outstanding season in which the United captain also won the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year and the Premier League Player of the Season awards.

It is deserved not only for his performances this season — in which he also scored nine goals as United finished a creditable third — but for his consistency over a longer period.

Fernandes has been a reliable performer since joining from Sporting in 2020 and, even during difficult periods for United, he has remained one of the Premier League’s most effective attacking players.

I am delighted for him [Bruno Fernandes]. He has been fantastic this season and the [Premier League] player of the year [because of] the influence he has, how driven he is and he's scored a few goals as well. He has been the heartbeat of that team.

I'm not a Brentford fan. But, Keith Andrews has been top class, on a limited budget.

    Chris, Berkhamsted

Keith Andrews deserves it so much. He got Brentford in to a battle for Europe in his first ever season managing. Especially after he lost lots of key players it is amazing what he has done

    George, London

I think it has to be Keith Andrews. He never coached a senior team before and was only a set piece coach also most people thought they would get relegated as they sold their best players. He has done an amazing job.

    Idris, Hertford

I mean Keith Andrews has to be manager of the season, Brentford were flagged for relegation at the start of the season and yet he outperformed Thomas Frank and until the last day of the season was in the fight for Europe, missing out on goal difference in the end.

It has been quite the first season for Keith Andrews.

Since being promoted from his role as set-piece coach to first-team coach, replacing Thomas Frank last June, Andrews has taken Brentford to new heights in the Premier League.

The former Republic of Ireland international had the Bees fighting for European qualification until the final minutes of the season, as the club recorded its joint-highest finish in the Premier League.

Andrews has also got the best out of the likes of Igor Thiago, who has scored 22 goals in 38 Premier League appearances this term.

Has to be Michael Carrick what more could the man do. He got Kobbie good again and got Them into champions league. Best manager.

    Will, Kent

Micheal Carrick has got to be the best manager of the season, without a doubt.

    Sam, Portsmouth

Carrick definitely manager of the season, he pulled a crumbled Amorim led team to champions league - I mean come on

    Arthur, London

Carrick for sure. He completely transformed the team and I wasn’t expecting them to get 3rd!

He may have only been in the Manchester United hot seat since January, but Michael Carrick has more than made his mark.

The former England international returned to Old Trafford on an interim basis in January following the sacking of Ruben Amorim, with United floundering outside the Champions League places

But since Carrick took charge, United have picked up the most points in the Premier League (41) and sealed qualification for next season's Champions League with an impressive third-place finish.

Carrick was rewarded for his successful interim stint by having his appointment made permanent earlier this month.

I get that Arteta won the league, but fundamentally his achievement was going from second to first after four years of squad building and half a billion pounds spent on players. How is that particularly impressive?

    Alex, Sunderland

It shouldn't be Arteta. He's turned the beautiful game into the most boring thing we've ever seen.

    Garry, UK

Any manager ought to do what Arteta has done this season & why did it take so long, ( given the funding available he has had ?). Regis le Bris for me. Excellent results with limited funds. Leeds fan.

    Robert, Snodland

Arteta's VARsenal couldn't even beat the worst Liverpool side seen in decades. Even Wolves managed that.

  11. My manager of the season - Mikel Artetapublished at 09:58 BST

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

There are plenty of contenders for manager of the year but in the end my pick is Mikel Arteta for ending Arsenal’s 22-year wait for the Premier League title and taking them to the Champions League final for the first time since 2006.

The pressure to deliver was on this season and he has.

  12. My manager of the season - Mikel Artetapublished at 09:56 BST

The weight of getting Arsenal over the line in the title race has been heavy, so for the Spaniard to finally navigate that makes him a worthy pick.

It's got to be Super Mik Arteta. For sure Iraola and le Bris have had exceptional seasons but basically since Arsenal went top in October people have been saying this HAS to be the time for Arteta.... to deliver under that relentless pressure? Impressive.

    Paul, London

Lets be realistic it's Mikel Arteta. It hasn't been pretty but managing is all about finding a way to win and that's exactly what he has done. If you can beat Pep to a league title you have to be the manager of the season.

    Alex, London

Got to be Arteta. So much passion. Sticking with him was so sensible.

    Alvys, Highland

Arteta won the league, how is Manager of the season even a conversation?

The Arsenal manager has made the biggest step of all by leading his team to the Premier League title after three second-placed finishes in a row. Now he has got Arsenal over the line, I think we could see a period of winning start for the Gunners.

Only one manager can win the Premier League each season, and in the 2025/26 campaign, it was Mikel Arteta.

After three second-place finishes in a row, Arteta became the first manager since 2004 to guide the Gunners to the Premier League title.

The Spaniard could complete a remarkable double this weekend when Arsenal face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

I'm surprised to see Daniel Farke hasn't made the nominations list at all. Granted, Sunderland's Le Bris has had a great season but Farke's team have been in every single game since November, regardless of who they've played.

    Jeffrey, Sheffield

Daniel Farke for keeping Leeds up with 3 games to go, reaching the FA Cup semi final for the first time since 1987 and beating Manchester United at Old Trafford.

    Terry, West Yorkshire

Daniel Farke going massively under the radar. What he's achieved from December onwards has been remarkable. Five losses for a newly promoted side since end of November, two of them against Arsenal and Man City. Him and Leeds both outperforming expectations.

    Jack, Leeds

  17. My manager of the season - Daniel Farkepublished at 09:39 BST

    Manager of the season

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport Chelsea reporter

There were rumours about Daniel Farke’s future before the season had even begun.

Leeds were reported to have explored other options before sticking with the German, and by December his side were in the relegation zone, with his position again under scrutiny.

However, a win against Chelsea and a draw with Liverpool in successive matches, in a new formation, helped steady the ship.

Farke and Leeds did not look back from that point, finishing on 47 points in 14th place — closer to the European spots than the relegation zone.

It represents an impressive managerial achievement, given Leeds did not spend more than £20m on an individual player and did not significantly strengthen the squad after winning the Championship last summer.

It is not the Hollywood ending Pep Guardiola would have had in mind when he thought about leaving Manchester City.

But a second-place finish in the Premier League is an impressive final act for Guardiola, if it proves to be his last in English football.

Since winning the Premier League title four times in a row between 2021 and 2024, Guardiola has been gradually rebuilding his squad at the Etihad, with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Ederson, Ilkay Gundogan and Kyle Walker having left in recent seasons.

City’s second-place finish - coupled with a Carabao Cup and FA Cup double - ensures they are in a strong position to begin life after Guardiola.
