  2. 'I do not have words for Anderson'published at 17:08 BST

    FT: Nottm Forest 1-1 Newcastle

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Vitor Pereira speaking to BBC MOTD:

"After facing three teams in one week - Chelsea away, Villa away and today Newcastle - they are strong teams with a lot of solutions in their squads. We are facing a difficult moment with important players injured. The character of the team today - they showed the spirit even after conceding the goal. We tried to react, we scored one goal and wanted to score another. This is the spirit of the team and the supporters. We were not full of energy even mentally but one point I think was good for us.

"Before the game I said to them this is a season where we've suffered a lot - a very difficult season - and this is the time to finish our work and keep the club in the Premier League because we deserve it. And they showed everything that even the players from the bench tried to help their team-mates and this is the spirit I want to see.

"We compete - we did well in Europa League - we tried to balance the energy between both competitions. Struggling in the Premier League because if we have all the players in a good condition and the safe position in the league I really believe that Europa League last game [against Villa] would be completely different. In the end I'm happy because we got three points against Chelsea and today was a good point."

On Elliot Anderson: "The funeral of his mother was two days ago. He travelled to Newcastle, came back and I can not imagine the character of him. He is a player that gave everything today on the pitch. He ran until the last bit to help the team and I do not have words to thank him and we have a lot of quality but it's not only about quality it's about human qualities, personality, character and team spirit. It's about suffering and sacrifice and trying everything to help each other. I am very happy with them."

  3. 'This is the spirit I want in my team'published at 17:05 BST

    FT: Nottm Forest 1-1 Newcastle

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest boss Vitor Pereira speaking to Sky Sports:

"In the end I have reasons to be happy. Three games, very tough without time to recover and time to prepare in the proper way. Chelsea away, Villa away and today a physical game against Newcastle. It was very difficult but the players showed the spirit, the character and in the end they want to score a second goal but I have to be honest that one point, in this moment of the season, is a good point with the players that we have injured at the moment. Difficult to find solutions and the players from the bench went in with spirit to help the team and try to score and I'm very happy with that.

"The character of these players, a special group. They believe even after we conceded the goal that we can score. We did and maybe have a chance to score a second. This is the spirit I want in my team. Now it's time to recover mentally and physically. Thanks to the supporters because they help us a lot. We're looking to the future with belief and we know that next season will be good for us."

    FT: Nottm Forest 1-1 Newcastle

Newcastle have dropped more points from winning positions than any other side in the Premier League this season (27) – only in 2004-05 have the Magpies dropped more in the competition (31).

They have failed to win 14 top-flight away games this season (D5 L9), with the Magpies last failing to win more matches in the competition on the road in 2018-19 (15).

  5. 'Happened too many times this season'published at 17:00 BST

    FT: Nottm Forest 1-1 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe speaking to BBC MOTD:

"Another game we should have won - we played pretty well today. First half was a none event, neither team grabbed the game like they could have done. Second half we did do that, scored a great goal from our perspective and then we're in the position to win the game and it's happened too many times this season where we haven't followed through and defended well enough."

On poor defending: "It contributes to a lot - the feeling when you are able to defend well and consistently keep clean sheets it stabilises you as a team and you feel you can see out a game. For whatever reason, a combination of factors in my opinion, we haven't delivered that and our confidence has been hit. Today I don't think there was any sign of that [Forest] goal coming, we defended pretty well overall but in a moment we've conceded.

"We did have a number of chances, that's the other way to defend is to score a second and third goal and that's something we've been good at over the years. Today we had some big moments before and after we scored. Their goalkeeper made some good saves but we'll probably look at that with a different eye when we review it back that we could've ben more clinical. I thought we were good between both boxes and a lot of positives but ultimately we're disappointed to draw.

"Last three games have been a lot better. Better energy, focus and the players have been committed. We've had mixed results in those games but performances have been good."

On Harvey Barnes: "He's such a good player and he has goals in him - he has done well for us historically off the bench. He has done well when he's started too and he's an outstanding player. Took his goal well and that gives Harvey a great chance to start the next game.

"We need to be consistent with our performance level and keep and maintain what we've delivered these past few matches. We're looking for goals and wins and entertainment for our supporters which is crucial in our last two games.

"Support was magnificent today. After the game they would be feeling the frustration as we are but they greeted the players brilliantly. They have been like that all season and I can't fault them at all. There is unity at the club and that is paramount to what we do."

  6. 'I think it was a huge performance today'published at 16:56 BST

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-2 Everton

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner speaking to Sky Sports: "I'm more pleased with the performance, especially second half. At the end, maybe the last 30 minutes, it felt like Everton had to play 3 days ago, because we put so much pressure, we created chances. We always knew Everton can be dangerous. At the end it was one mistake we made, but I'm really proud of the team's effort today of the belief we had and also on the mentality, not to get the draw over the goal line but to play for our win. I think it was a huge performance today."

On frustration having to concede in both halves: "I told the players at half time, this is the difference between conference league and premier league. Conference is very technical and premier league is so physical. After the first 10 minutes we had to find the switch. In the first 10 minutes they were just in our half. It was like this against Bournemouth, with corners. We talked about it and the reaction today was much better than it was against Bournemouth. I think we played well, scored a nice goal, always were threatening. It's psychological. The way we played the way we created chances, it was great to watch, big credit to the players."

On the extra recovery day for the players: "The last premier league game was between the two semi finals and now there is two and half weeks to prepare for the final, it's a little bit different. The players, even yesterday, looked much fresher and this is what they showed today, it's not just the mentality, it's the quality, it was incredible."

On who he will be supporting in West Ham v Arsenal: "I can't say because we play city in three days, this makes them more aggressive, we are neutral. We just want to get point after point. Todays performance makes me proud and now we prepare for city. We know they are on a good run, playing so well, but all these performances will help us develop individually and as a team. Seven months ago we played at Everton, we dominated first 60 minutes but then we had a drop off and pressure increased. We lost 2-1 and today I had the feeling it was the opposite. The last 30 minutes we were more on their half, and we were the team maybe closer to win it. We have played more than 20 games since and this is just the development of the team and what we can be proud of."

Everton and Moyes played that game like a team who didn’t really believe they could get into Europe, too cautious and too safe, and that could have ended up with us losing. Palace didn’t have to work that hard to make a game of it.

  8. 'There is a lot to like about Everton at the moment'published at 16:52 BST

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-2 Everton

    Danny Murphy
    Former Liverpool midfielder on MOTD

On Everton's fading European hopes: Ideally for their fans and to reward themselves for a good season, they'd want to give themselves a chance of Europe but overall it has still been a really good season.

Their fans were clapping them at the end there because they are enjoying what they are seeing - they have got a nice balance now, they are not just hanging on in games, they are not defensive - they go after teams as well as well as the times when they sit in.

They have got a nice balance in their side and with a bit of investment in the summer, they could kick on, but in isolation today they will be disappointed because of the goals they conceded were not great. When you look at all the chances they created too, then when you create that many chances away from home and don't win, you always feel disappointed.

And that I suppose is a positive in many ways, because if you are going anywhere in the Premier League, travelling away from home and making chances like that, then you are doing something right. There is a lot to like about Everton at the moment, even if their recent results have not been great.

  9. 'I think it was a huge performance'published at 16:50 BST

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-2 Everton

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner speaking to Sky Sports: "I am pleased with the performance, especially in the second half. In the end, it felt like Everton played three days ago. We made so much pressure, created chances and missed a few.

"I am really proud of the team's effort today and the belief we had and also the mentality to play for a win. I think it was a huge performance."

  10. 'I wanted to see more belief'published at 16:48 BST

    FT: Burnley 2-2 Aston Villa

    Burnley

Burnley manager Mike Jackson speaking to Sky Sports: Really pleased with result today, I'm happy for them as a group. What's done is done, what I've just said to them there is don't let anyone tell you you can't do anything. A lot of people keep doubting them but they've come back today and they've done well.

On did he like what he saw today: "I just wanted to see more courage, a little bit more beleif. They made a game of it, on the other end we could have out with a win. It's a good start for ys in terms of trying to get going again but I am pleased for the group."

On Zian Flemming's goals: "He has been incredible, I think he's a example to everybody who maximises every once he can get out of himself. He's done that all season, that's the type of professional he is. It's a real credit to him, he's been top."

On what he has brought to the team: "I don't think it's me, I think for them sometimes it's a little bit of pressure comes off after what happened last week (against Leeds.) I think then it's right we've got a choice, we either feel sorry for ourselves or we go. That was the most pleasing thing to see today, them actually go for it. Compete and show the qualities that they do have.

On the last two games: "The players need to give something for themselves. Football is about the players and we're here to help and guide, they have to go and play the game.

  11. 'Belief and character'published at 16:45 BST

    FT: Burnley 2-2 Aston Villa

    Burnley

Burnley interim manager Michael Jackson, speaking to BBC MOTD: "It was a good performance. If you look at today's group - we spoke about having belief - and they showed character."

On goalscorer Zian Flemming: "He's been incredible this year. He makes the maximum out of everything he gets each day and he's on double figures now in the Premier League. But I know he'd happily swap that for us staying in the Premier League."

On whether they are building for next season in the Championship: "It's about that now. It's about building on the foundations we have - we've had to do that before. I'm pleased for the group today that they have something to be proud of."

  12. Watkins is 'a fighter'published at 16:43 BST

    FT: Burnley 2-2 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, speaking to BBC MOTD: "It was a fantastic performance. I'm very happy with how they competed to try and get the three points. We conceded three clear chances and they scored two goals - we have to avoid these situations.

"I'm happy how we are competing in two competitions. It's not easy to compete in the Premier League but we're in the top-five and that's fantastic.

"Some players were very tired today but the commitment was fantastic. They ambition and mentality to play on Thursday and again here is fantastic. We are not consistent like at the start of the season but the league is 38 matches."

On Ollie Watkins: "He is doing fantastic - he is a fighter. Three months ago he was a little down but we always have conversations about being consistent and working for the team every match.

"Now he is getting the numbers."

On the challenge of finishing in the top-five: "It's very difficult for us, difficult for Liverpool and difficult for Bournemouth. The team who achieves it is the one who deserves it."

  13. 'Proud of what we are doing'published at 16:41 BST

    FT: Burnley 2-2 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think we deserved more but we needed to be more clinical. We were attacking more in their half than defending in ours, but we conceded three clear chances and conceded two.

"Overall we dominated and had the chances to score. It's a good point but not enough.

"It's very difficult to finish in the top five but at the moment we can feel so proud of what we are doing. Overall it's something fantastic.

"We keep going forward and play against Liverpool on Friday now. We are excited for our future matches, a final in the Europa League and Manchester City - wow!"

On Ollie Watkins' goal: "It's another way we are practicing - a great pass from Emiliano Martinez. Ollie had a good three or four chances and he's helping us a lot."

  14. 'We're not out of it yet'published at 16:38 BST

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-2 Everton

    Everton

Everton manager David Moyes speaking to Match of the Day: "We did ok. We gave up some chances - the game could have been 4-4 or 5-5 at one point. We are trying to win at the moment but we missed some big chances to make it 2-0. They did as well - but we had a chance to go 2-0 and we didn't take it. Maybe if we had got that after midweek it might have been a different game. Credit to Crystal Palace, they stuck in."

On Beto: "He's great at his work rate and what he tries to do. He's limited in other aspects but you're just beginning to see some goals. I'll need him to score a few more between now and the end of the season.

On Europe: "It's amazing that we are actually talking about Everton possibly being in Europe with two games to go - and we're not out of it yet. It's getting tougher every game we're not winning."

  15. 'Another game we should have won and haven't'published at 16:36 BST

    FT: Nottm Forest 1-1 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe speaking to Sky Sports:

"It's a decent performance but when you group everything that's happened to us this season it's another game that we feel we should've won and we haven't. Already we're starting to digest why we didn't - lesons to learn, things to improve. We dominated for large periods and should've scored more than one and then paid the price at the end.

"The team improved as the game went on. First half was a bit of a non-event and we changed things around at half time, moved some things around and were much better in the second half. The two subs made a big impact that was good to see - but then we just have to defend better. Of course we had chances to get a second goal and we should have done and then we just didn't defend the goal well enough at all."

On defending the goal: "It was our decision on the pitch to go deeper as a protection mechanism but it rarely works. Disappointed with the actions for the goal - it comes from a turnover from their defensive third and we dropped deep instead of chasing the ball."

On ending the season positively: "If we're able to win our last two games then we'd look at it positively but we have to leave with a better feeling than we have today because ultimately the late goal changes the perception of ourselves and we put so much effort in, the lads are really trying, we're just not putting it together for the whole game."

  16. 'The story of the season'published at 16:34 BST

    FT: Nottm Forest 1-1 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle forward Harvey Barnes speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "A little bit disappointing. It was a little bit of a back and forth game and then we've got the goal to go ahead. Then we looked comfortable for a bit, looked like we might get another one, and created a few chances. It has been the story of the season, late in games sinking in, conceding pressure and ultimately conceding goals, and that has cost us today.

"When we go ahead in games it's something that we've not dealt with well enough. We start to look nervy and lose the confidence to go and get another goal and ultimately just try to defend the lead which we haven't done well enough.

"It's hard to put your finger on exactly why, maybe a bit of fatugue towards the end of games, and then when it happens once or twice then the confidence drops. Dropping back is not an instruction, it is just something that seems to creep into our game and it is something we've got to stop doing."

On Anderson's late goal: "We had a few good years with him here and he played well today and ultimately scored the goal that levelled the game. Nice to see him doing well but not when we're playing against him."

  17. 'Fitting for Anderson to have the last say'published at 16:32 BST

    FT: Nottingham Forest 1-1 Newcastle

    Shay Given
    Match of the Day pundit

It was fitting for Elliot Anderson to have the last say in that game against his former club and after the sad passing of his mother. He’s shown incredible resolve over the last few weeks as losing a parent is one of the biggest things that could ever happen to anyone.

People often forget the human side of players, they aren’t just robots. For him to keep playing at the level he has been - when he will have been hurting so much - has been unbelievable. It will have meant so much to him to score against Newcastle, his mum was a Geordie and he will no doubt have had mates in the away end.

He is some player and he has yet again shown what a mistake Newcastle made by letting him go. That goal today has earned Forest the point that might be the one that seals their safety for next season. He got cramp when he scored and that showed just how much effort he puts in today and week in, week out.

  18. 'This group is full of fighters'published at 16:30 BST

    FT: Nottm Forest 1-1 Newcastle

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest goalscorer Elliot Anderson speaking to Sky Sports:

"Massive - we knew going into these last few games it's important to pick up points and finish on a high. It's a good point considering I don't think we were at our best today. But when you're not at your best it's about not losing points and we've picked one good one up.

"Subs brought some energy, tough out there today. It was hot and everyone seemed really tired. A tough first half for both teams I think. But we finished well."

Goal meant a lot? "It did - a few things going on recently so it felt really nice.

"We've made a U-turn and done really well. The manager is brilliant and we're all behind him. Tough game in midweek but we'll bounce back and now focus on the league.

"One thing the manager said is that this group is full of fighters. Four managers it's not been easy but we've all stuck together and fought for each other."

  19. 'I think we deserved that point'published at 16:28 BST

    FT: Crystal Palace 2-2 Everton

    Crystal Palace

Jean Philippe Mateta speaking to Sky sports:

"I'm still annoyed about the chances, but It's okay we came back two times and I think we deserved that point. We wanted to win today, and we nearly did. We were one point away and never gave up, that's why I'm happy to be with this team."

    Ismaila Sarr added:

"It's a tough game, Everton is very physical. Our team was ready for this game. I'm happy to take one point, but we needed three points today and came out with a draw. We will prepare for the next game.

"This team is very good, I'm happy and I give 100% to the team."

  20. 'Short turnaround not ideal'published at 16:26 BST

    FT: Burnley 2-2 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa goalscorer Ollie Watkins, speaking to BBC MOTD: "It was a valuable point. If you can't win then don't lose. Our away form hasn't been where we want it - we haven't won away since around January at Newcastle.

"We've done amazing to get to this position with our home form so we can't be too picky. It's unfortunate we couldn't see it out after leading."

On energy levels after playing in Europe: "You have to dig in and leave it all out there in Europe but now we've got time to rest and recover. The big midweek performance against Nottingham Forest left everyone tired and a short turnaround wasn't ideal."

On World Cup hopes: "I'm just trying to do the best I can. Every striker wants to score so I'm trying to do that and create. We've got massive games coming up, so time to focus on that."

On confidence levels for the run-in: "We get confidence from what we've done over previous seasons under this manager. We put in hard work day in and day out. I'm very confident in myself and everyone that is around the club."
