Glasgow City scored twice late on to come from two down and salvage a draw against defending SWPL champions Hearts.

Mariana Speckmaier's effort from distance for the hosts was comfortably held by goalkeeper Erin Clachers and, at the other end, Hearts keeper Rachael Johnstone had to look lively to tip Lisa Evans' dipping shot over the bar.

Hearts' energy and pressing caused all sorts of problems for City and eventually resulted in their opening goal. Speckmaier did not give Clachers a moment as the keeper gathered from a back pass and tried to clear, the ball ricocheting off Speckmaier into the back of the net.

Glasgow tried to respond and Johnstone kept out an effort from Kelly Brady, with Lisa Forrest unable to quite control the ball on the follow-up.

As half-time approached, Hearts hit the bar not once but twice, headers from Monica Forsyth and then the lively Speckmaier both smacking off the goal frame.

Kayla Jardine had been a real threat all afternoon and doubled Hearts' lead. Her header took a wicked deflection off City defender Evans on its way past Clachers.

However, City reacted well and piled on the pressure, prompting their comeback. Emily Gray raced on to a lovely through ball and, although her shot was on the weak side, it trundled over the line after beating Johnstone's outstretched hand.

And the Hearts keeper could do nothing about City's equaliser. Jesi Rossman's long-range strike was unstoppable - her first goal for City.
