Dundee secured the win they needed to qualify for the Premier Sports Cup knockout stages but were made to work hard from it by League 2 visitors Clyde.
Bringing on Alan Forrest at half time proved to be the turning point for the lacklustre Premiership side.
The winger released by Heart of Midlothian this summer curled in the opener only three minutes after coming on.
He then won a penalty kick, his cross coming off the hand of Liam Rooney, and Simon Murray slotted the second from the spot.
Joe Westley volleyed in the third before the striker added another close-range finish.
The victory means Dundee progress as runners-up in Group D behind League 1 side Ross County.
