Charlton have done a good job of getting numbers behind the ball but they don't quite have the organisation in those moments and that's why they are being punished at this level.

Birmingham City will be very pleased to head into the break with only a one-goal deficit.

Saving a couple of half-chances at the other end, it has all been Chelsea so far. The hosts have had 14 shots, but only Lexi Potter could make hers count.

Will Birmingham continue to frustrate them in the second half? If so, they'll fancy themselves to nick something, as their neighbours Aston Villa did here on the opening weekend.

All to play for at Stamford Bridge.

It's fair to say the momentum was with London City for the vast majority of that first half.

London City had a good start to the game, they created a lot of opportunities and that early goal settled them a bit. They still looked vulnerable at times, especially in those transition moments.

Chelsea's Ellie Carpenter stings the hands of Sophie Baggaley.

That Jodie Hutton goal has certainly woken the Charlton fans up. They are going to need the fans to get through this.

You can see the impact it's had on the players as well. Notice how much higher up they are on the pitch. The frontline looks like it's found some new new energy.

There are ten minutes until the break, and Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor will want to see another goal for her side's efforts.

That'll do it for the first half at The Valley.

London City have dominated, but the main talking point is rightly Jodie Hutton's wondergoal for Charlton. What a hit that was.

However, unless she can do that a couple more times in the second half, it's hard to see how Charlton get back in this game.

Admittedly few and far between, but there are promising signs for Birmingham City Amy Merricks.

The visitors put together a nice string of passes and find Marie Levasseur up by the corner flag in Chelsea's defensive third.

But Sandy Baltimore bullies her off the ball before she can do anything threatening with it.

London City winger Kadidiatou Diani twists and turns before going down under a challenge - she feels she was caught by Jodie Hutton, and she might have a point.

The referee isn't interested though.

Look at how far up Fernandez is, just able to make that challenge in the box.

That isn't ideal from a Charlton point of view, not what you want before halftime.

I can't believe that's not gone in.

Chelsea attacker Sandy Baltimore puts a ball into the box. I'm sure it touches the feet of Alyssa Thompson AND Ellie Carpenter, both inside the six-yard box.

But the ball springs loose and Birmingham survive.
