Mikkel Damgaard very nearly grabs an equaliser!!!

He makes a great connection with the header and it's got plenty of power but it's straight at Senne Lammens.

Five minutes of time added on.

GOAL - Man Utd 2-1 Brentfordpublished at 21:45 BST

    Mathias Jensen

    Game on!

Brentford have had plenty of chances from close-range, but it takes a strike from Mathias Jensen on the edge of the box to beat Senne Lammens.

The Brentford midfielder cuts inside to wrongfoot Benjamin Sesko and then curls the ball beautifully into the top left corner.

Dango Ouattara waltzes his way into the box but his lofted delivery is far too close to Senne Lammens and the United keeper catches easily.

Atmosphere has dropped here a bit, but it's not a beauty parade, Carrick just has to get the points on the board.

Brentford are lucky foul throws are hardly given. I don’t think I’ve seen a legal one from them in this second half.

It's like Ouattara is frightened to death of the ball! Like it shocks him.

    His technique was awful there.

Casemiro takes a swipe at goal from the edge of the box and he's adamant that Sepp van den Berg got a touch on it to take it wide.

He runs straight up to the referee, while a furious Igor Thiago - who has just been carded - sprints to argue with his Brazil team-mate.

The Brentford striker needs to be careful.

Igor Thiago hasn't had much to celebrate tonight and he lets his frustration show as he drags down Ayden Heaven.

Bryan Mbuemo won't get to score against his former club. He makes way for Mason Mount, while Leny Yoro replaces Luke Shaw.

  15. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:30 BST

    Man Utd 2-0 Brentford

If Brentford can't score that, then I'm not sure how they'll manage to score this evening.

Dango Ouattara is completely unmarked at the back post as the Bees swing in a corner and Senne Lammens is out of position, leaving an empty goal for Ouattara to aim for, but the Brentford striker nods the ball off the post.

He goes for an overhead kick on the rebound but ends up almost whacking Harry Maguire rather than the ball and it's a yellow card.

A poor clearance by Harry Maguire almost allows Brentford in, but his centre-back partner Ayden Heaven is there to make sure Dango Ouattara's strike doesn't hit the back of the net.

Manchester United's fans are having some fun at the expense of their Manchester City counterparts.

City supporters sing 'this city is ours' because United is in the Trafford borough.

United's sing in response 'this city is yours? 20,000 empty seats, are you sure?' with an expletive thrown in.

There were a lot of empty seats for City's FA Cup semi-final victory over Southampton on Saturday.

Bryan Mbuemo will be dying to score against his former club, but he'll need a bit more quality than that.

He was in there, but a poor touch lets him down.

Keane Lewis-Potter tries to thread a pass across the face of goal, but it's cut out early by Senne Lammens.

The second half hasn't been quite as thrilling, but it does still feel like Brentford could battle their way back into this - if only they could find the back of the net!
