The nearer he gets to the end, the better Casemiro gets at the chapter of his Man United career.

Michael Carrick will be delighted with the first 11 minutes.

    Casemiro (11 mins)

Only 11 minutes played, but it had been coming!

Bruno Fernandes whips in a deep corner and Harry Maguire heads it across goal to the back post, where all Casemiro has to do is nod in.

A lightning fast start by Manchester United.

    Man Utd 0-0 Brentford

Bruno Fernandes threads a lovely through ball for Bryan Mbuemo to run onto, but the former Brentford man finds himself at too tight an angle and he can't squeeze past Caoimhín Kelleher.

What a pass from Bruno. In a game of sideways and backwards passes you need someone like that who stands out and is ultra positive.

I don't think Caoimhin Kelleher knew too much about that but he reacts quick enough to palm away a bullet header from Harry Maguire.

It’ll be tough given our run in, but Andrews has done excellent with the players. Thiago pushing Haaland close and competing with other teams that have greater budgets for Europe. Our squad depth means we’ve overachieved this season but proud nonetheless.

    Man Utd 0-0 Brentford

A very early booking for Luke Shaw after he pulls back Kevin Schade as Brentford were breaking forwards.

He can't really complain about that one.

It is not linear, Ruben Amorim's system is different and arguably he made the logical call.

But seeing Kobbie Mainoo do what he did just then is just a reminder he didn't play for half a season, wanted to join Napoli in August and would possibly have left in January had Amorim not been sacked.

Manchester United have made a really positive start but another attack comes to an end when Luke Shaw leans back and skies over the crossbar.

You have to finish that for Mainoo, more than for yourself.

He's not the quickest Kobbie, but he glides forward with the ball beautifully. This is really really special. What a run.

Kobbie Mainoo looks furious. He goes past one Brentford defender, then another and another before laying the ball off for Amad Diallo.

He takes the strike first time, but Sepp van den Berg gets back to make a goalline clearance.

Really worried UTD will be exposed at the back tonight. Brentford have been solid against better opposition this season.

I am not sure when flags became a thing again but there are plenty of them on the Stretford End tonight.

Michael Carrick has applauded the Manchester United supporters on his way down the touchline.

The TV camera have picked Bryan Mbeumo out as he faces his former club.

    This is an important game.
