Scotland will have one eye on this game as well won't they? They certainly won't want Ecuador taking all three points.

  2. Postpublished at 21:18 BST

    Ecuador 1-1 Germany

The chances of Ecuador going through to the knockout stages in one of the third-place spots with a draw is slim.

They could really do with the three points to give them a genuine chance.

  3. Postpublished at 21:18 BST

    Curacao 0-1 Ivory Coast

    Efan Ekoku
Former Nigeria striker on BBC Two

That's not a bad hit at all from Jurien Gaari. Curacao have got some great support in this stadium as well. It was always moving away from the right-hand post of Yahia Fofana.

    Curacao 0-1 Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast's Yan Diomande (19 years, 223 days) is the first African teenager to assist a goal at the World Cup since 1994, when Cameroon pair Rigobert Song (17 years, 354 days) and Marc Vivien Foe (19 years, 50 days) both did so in the same match against Sweden.

Metaphorically, and actually, the clouds have cleared a bit here for Ecuador.

  6. CLOSE!published at 21:16 BST

    Curacao 0-1 Ivory Coast

Jurien Gaari is close for Curacao, shooting low and hard across goal, but just wide of the far post. A rueful slap of his hands in frustration shows he feels he should've done better.

  8. Diomande relishing being the danger manpublished at 21:15 BST

Yet again Yan Diomande was the creator for Ivory Coast’s opener from Nicolas Pepe. He came into this tournament with a lot of pressure on his shoulders as many experts pundits were picking him out as a young star to watch, plus there was all the transfer speculation but he seems to be relishing being Ivory Coast’s main danger man.

  9. Postpublished at 21:14 BST

    Curacao 0-1 Ivory Coast

    Efan Ekoku
Former Nigeria striker on BBC Two

Curacao worked it well down the right-hand-side. Yahia Fofana got a strong enough hand to it and he got it away from that six-yard box.

  10. Postpublished at 21:14 BST

    Curacao 0-1 Ivory Coast

Curacao know they need to win this match and they get themselves into a promising position down the right wing, with Joshua Brenet firing the ball across the face of goal.

But thanks to a combination of Ivory Coast goalkeeper Yahia Fofana and some of his team-mates, they are able to clear to safety.

So Messi can stamp on the back of your leg and not even get a card. Germany can kick your player in the head, score and not even get reviewed... And people wonder why fans say the "big teams" are favoured. Glad Ecuador equalised. A little bit of justice.

    Ecuador 1-1 Germany

It's been a really entertaining game so far.

Germany try a square ball across the box but it's intercepted and hoofed away.

Ecuador put the pressure on up the other end as Germany try to pass it around. They're well up for this now.

  16. Postpublished at 21:11 BST

    Curacao 0-1 Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast pushing for a second and Manchester United winger Amad Diallo is looking for the far post but there is not enough curl on his low attempt and wide it goes.

I siad before the game that all Ecuador may need is one goal to have the belief. Vite wins the ball and all of a sudden it opens up for Angulo. He's not closed down well enough at all and he is able to bend it into the corner. It's fantastic strike through the legs.

Errors will be punished at this level, no matter who you're playing against.

What a run from Nicolas Pepe. Great anticipation, coming with pace and that's a nice tidy finish.

It had been a bit scrappy in the opening minutes of the game. You expect that on matchday one, but by the third match you feel the players will all be well grooved.

    Nilson Angulo

    The New Jersey Stadium erupts!

Ecuador have their first goal at the tournament and it's a beauty. Nilson Angulo strikes powerfully through the defender's legs and it nestles in the bottom corner.

Manuel Neuer was a bit slow off the mark there and perhaps he'll be disappointed.

But Ecuador are up and running at the 2026 World Cup...finally.

Ivory Coast, needing a point to qualify, take the lead.

In demand Yan Diomande gets lucky as Curacao fail to clear with the ball hitting him, but he then gets to the byline and pulls the ball back, with former Arsenal man Nicolas Pepe sweeping the ball into the net with a first-time finish from six yards out.
