Match Facts

  • England’s only previous meetings with New Zealand came in the same week back in June 1991 – the Three Lions won both friendlies, 1-0 in Auckland on the Monday and 2-0 on the Saturday in Wellington.

  • New Zealand are winless in each of their last 16 matches against European opposition (D4 L12), since a 1-0 friendly victory over Serbia in May 2010.

  • This will be England’s first game played in America since a pair of friendlies against Ecuador and Honduras in June 2014 in the lead up to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The Three Lions drew both fixtures at the Sun Life Stadium, 2-2 and 0-0 respectively.

  • England have failed to win their last two fixtures (D1 L1), last going winless in their opening three fixtures of a calendar year in 2004 (D2 L1).

  • New Zealand have lost eight of their last 10 games in all competitions (W1 D1), losing 4-0 to Haiti last time out. The All Whites had 14 shots to 13 in that match, though did lose the xG battle 1.0-2.4.

  • England have won each of their last 37 games against nations ranked 85th or higher in the FIFA World Rankings (New Zealand are 85th), since a 1-0 loss to Northern Ireland in September 2005.

  • Harry Kane has scored 10 goals across his last 10 appearances for England, while he has also scored nine goals in just nine international appearances against non-European nations.

  • Chris Wood scored nine goals for New Zealand in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification, five more than any other player in the OFC confederation – he scored more goals with his head (6) than any other player managed overall.
