    Iran 1-1 New Zealand

A long throw in from the right causes chaos in the New Zealand penalty area and Iran's Shahriyar Moghanloo, with his back to goal, gets there first to flick the ball goalwards with a glancing header.

It is not a bad attempt either, with the ball landing on the roof of the net, not inside it. His reaction shows that he thought that was a real chance.

Prime Drogba? That's a lot of weight to put on an assist against Iran!

But Chris Wood does get a chance to get a goal himself as he stands over a free-kick. Prime Beckham? Not this time as the effort is not too powerful and not that well placed, straight at Alireza Beiranvand.

He spent most of the season injured but Chris Wood has emerged today playing like prime Didier Drogba. As I type, Iran get back into it. What a game!

Always love a good stat and this is a nice one.

Three shots on target in the first 30 minutes of this match for New Zealand is as many as they had throughout the entire 2010 World Cup (three) - the last time they competed in the tournament.

It really was a cute finish, Rezaeian started the move himself as well. As the ball bounces towards him, he flicks it with the outside of his right foot. Iran have been a bit more positive in the last few minutes and that is where the goal has come from.

It was a clever finish from Rezaeian. He gambles, composes himself and finishes with the outside of the right boot. Crocombe had no chance.

New Zealand haven't got going since the hydration break and Iran are level.

GOAL - Iran 1-1 New Zealandpublished at 32 mins

    Ramin Rezaeian (Iran)

Not for the first time in this tournament, the hydration break stops one team's momentum and allows the opponents to regroup.

Iran had been the better team since the restart and the ball is nudged through into the path of Ramin Rezaeian and he uses the outside of the boot to flick the ball past Max Crocombe, who doesn't even have time to dive.

A quick check to see if he's onside, and he was, and we're level.

The hydration break seems to have disrupted New Zealand, who were well in the ascendency on the way in to it.

Max Crocombe in the New Zealand goal is making his country's fans nervous. Iran think they should have had a penalty when Crocombe was challenged by Mohammad Mohebbi after a heavy touch.

The sliced clearance then drops for Saman Ghoddos, but his lobbed effort from deep can only go wide.

Not too long after Ghoddos has another go, but the ball was always rising and goes well over the top.

Long way to go but if Australia and NZ each finish second in their group, they’ll play each other in the last 32. As a citizen of both countries, I’d feel overjoyed and conflicted if that were to eventuate!

It’s a mix of being very unlucky and being very poor. It is four v two and the moment he decides to go himself he has to score. It’s a good strike and he is unlucky he hit the post but he had so many opportunities. They had to score there.

New Zealand started slowly, went ahead and have now been well on top.

Iran just can't handle Chris Wood's power and presence up front. He lays it off to Sarpreet Singh and he tries his luck from 20 yards out.

Alireza Beiranvand spills the ball in the Iran goal, but then gathers at the second attempt.
