Algeria are playing at a World Cup for the first time since 2014. They lost their last-16 tie in extra time to eventual champions Germany.

Their captain today is Riyad Mahrez, who won five Premier League titles during his time in England - one with Leicester and four with Manchester City.

Man City left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri is the only current Premier League player in their squad and he's on the bench.

Algeria and Austria enter their final group game knowing they will finish second behind Argentina in Group J if they win.

Both teams will qualify for the last 32 if it ends in a draw - Austria in second place and Algeria as one of the best third-placed teams.

The team finishing second will face European champions Spain in the last 32.

We're almost at a point when we can dot the Is and cross the Ts for the knockout-phase schedule.

We definitely know that Argentina, as Group J winners, will play Cape Verde in their last-32 tie in Miami on Friday (23:00 BST).

The runners-up in this group will play Spain in Los Angeles on Thursday (20:00 BST).

Some of the gaps for third-placed qualifiers have been filled but the full line-up is not quite confirmed yet.

Jordan will head home after today's final group match against Argentina, having lost their first two fixtures against Austria and Algeria.

They were well in both of those games, though, taking the lead against Algeria.

However, four of the five goals they've conceded came in the second half.

Lionel Messi has been the star of Argentina's show so far at this World Cup.

Two wins from two games, five goals scored - all by Messi - and none conceded.

Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni said well in advance of the match against Jordan that he planned to leave Lionel Messi on the bench for this one and the decision to rest the 39-year-old was not injury-related.

"Leo [Messi] will most likely come on in the second half," he said.

"We talked and agreed that it was better that way, but obviously it's also good for him to stay in competitive form."

Messi has scored all five of Argentina's goals in the tournament so far.

The Argentina players have emerged for their warm-up, led by Lionel Messi, with the rest of the squad following behind.

As Messi appeared on the big screen, the stadium erupted into a roar. The Argentina fans will be desperate to see him get some minutes this evening.

Already-eliminated Jordan make two changes to the side that started their 2-1 loss to Algeria.

Vladimir Petkovic has made four changes to the Algeria XI that came from behind to beat Jordan.

Keeper Luca Zidane, son of Zinedine, has been replaced by Oussama Benbot, with Jaouen Hadjam starting at left-back and Nabil Bentaleb and Houssem Aouar in midfield.

Hicham Boudaoui, Rayan Aït-Nouri and Ramiz Zerrouki drop to the bench.

Ralf Rangnick has made three alterations to the Austria side beaten by Argentina.

Phillipp Mwene and Philipp Lienhart line up in defence while Marko Arnautovic leads the line, with Paul Wanner, Kevin Danso and Michael Gregoritsch among the replacements.

Argentina are through and will top the group as even if Algeria or Austria match them on six points, they have a better head-to-head record against both of those nations.

Jordan, having lost to the two sides immediately above them, are already out of the World Cup regardless of how they fare against the reigning world champions.

There are only two of the 72 scheduled group matches left to kick off at the 2026 World Cup and they will determine the final placings in Group J.

We already know that Argentina will top the group and the reigning champions are aiming to make it three wins from three as they take on already-eliminated Jordan.

Meanwhile, Algeria and Austria know the winner of their match will finish second - but a draw will send both countries through to the last 32.
