67 goals, red cards and injury-time goals galore, what more could you wish for after 82 days with no EFL football?

How we've missed our Saturday afternoon mayhem.

If you haven't had your EFL fix yet we have Sheffield United v Birmingham for you over here right now, and tomorrow there's Watford v Southampton and Burnley v West Ham to look forward to in the Championship.

The next League One action is on Thursday and, oh boy, it's tasty. Sheffield Wednesday v Bradford, a Yorkshire derby under the lights, and they both began with a win today. Perfect.

Last season, Walsall won their opening game of the League Two season and were top of the league at Christmas – only to collapse in the second half of the campaign and finish 12th.

They have begun again with victory, 3-0 at Gillingham, to sit at the summit after matchday one. Newport County, who finished in the bottom five last year, join them with a three-goal win over newly-promoted Rochdale.

York, the other side who came up last season, made a winning start to life back in the EFL, with Barnet beating promotion favourites Salford.

Oldham, Tranmere, Cheltenham, Fleetwood and Grimsby also won.

Only one of the four relegated teams picked up a point; that was Northampton in a goalless draw with Swindon. Exeter, Port Vale and Rotherham all lost.

What do you mean wait three or four games before producing a table? Not having any of it.

Huddersfield lead the way in the third tier after 2.17% of the season, thanks to their 3-0 win over AFC Wimbledon, despite playing most of it with 10-men.

Stockport picked up a fine away win at Plymouth, Bradford saw-off 10-man Posh at home while Luton picked up the result of the day, coming from behind at Reading to pick up a stunning 4-3 win in the dying seconds at lunchtime.

Cambridge and Bromley began life after promotion with a win and Sheffield Wednesday have won half as many games this season as they did in the whole of the last campaign, while Mansfield are the other side on maximum points after the opening day.

Leicester and Notts County battled to a lunchtime draw while the other new arrivals in the third tier, Oxford United and MK Dons, also shared the points.

• There were three red cards in Crewe's win over Crawley, with all of them coming in the second half. Josh March got the only goal of the game in the 95th minute.
• Accrington surrendered a lead to draw 2-2 against Colchester after a 60th minute goal by Rob Hunt.
• A flurry of goals in the final 15 minutes of the match gave Walsall a 3-0 win away at Gillingham.
• Harvey Rodgers bagged all three points in the first half for Grimsby as they came out on top against Exeter.
• Tranmere held off a defiant Shrewsbury at Prenton Park to win 2-0.
• Jake Evans, 17, scored on his debut for Cheltenham against Rotherham.
• Fleetwood beat Chesterfield after a 35th minute goal by Ched Evans.

• Northampton and Swindon was a stale affair, finishing 0-0.

• Huddersfield win 3-0 against AFC Wimbledon, with Derensili Sanches Fernandes scoring twice, and Bojan Radulovic getting the third. They fought most of the match with 10 men after Bali Mumba was sent off in the 29th minute.
• Sheffield Wednesday kicked off their return to League One with a 2-1 win against Leyton Orient. Max Lowe scored the winner from the spot in the 66th minute.
• Cambridge came out on top in a 3-2 thriller against Wigan. The home side went into a three goal lead, before the Latics tried their best to fight back.
• Defender Jack Armer broke the deadlock for Burton in the 74th minute against Stevenage, before the away side equalised at the death through Olly Sanderson.
• Bradford beat Peterborough convincingly 2-0, thanks to goals from Macauley Gillesphey and Nick Powell.
• Louis Reed was the man of the moment for Mansfield as he scored to help the Stags beat Doncaster 2-1.

• Blackpool left it until the 77th minute to equalise at 1-1 against Wycombe, through Finley Munroe.

First ever game in League One... first win in League One.

The Bromley fairytale continues, and how they love playing, and beating, Yorkshire opposition.

Victor Adeboyejo scored the winner against his former club, coming off the bench to turn home from close range 20 minutes from time, but credit to keeper Shamal George who produced a string of saves to keep the Tykes at bay and keep his sheet clean.

Calum Hudson has come on for his Barnsley debut... No, no Odoi.

He replaces Arley Kay after a very bright appearance in which he has come closest to scoring for the Reds, thumping the bar and glancing another header narrowly wide as well as working Shamal George on several occasions.

What a performance from Scott Lindsey and his side.

A great team effort and they thoroughly deserve the win.

They should have won the game by more.

They were dominant with the ball and created some fantastic chances.

A big win for Barnet on the opening day. They were set on their way by first-half goals from summer signings Oisin Gallagher and Charlie Lakin.

Kabongo Tshimanga effectively set the seal on it late on and although Ade Oluwo pulled one back and Kyrell Malcolm hit the post, Barnet came through.

Still the best part of four minutes to play at Oakwell after some stoppages for injuries during both halves.

There have been seven yellow cards in rather tetchy closing stages and a foul by Marcus Ifill on Reyes Cleary has given the Tykes the chance to launch the ball into the Ravens box from the left.

Nervy times for Bromley as the hosts try to find an equaliser.

Ravens boss Andy Woodman has gone into the book for taking his complaints too far on the touchline while Shamal George has been the busiest man on the pitch in the second half.

A fine start to the season for Stockport and new boss Jimmy McNulty.

Jack Diamond scored the opener on his 100th appearance and then teed-up Kyle Wootton to make it 2-0 before the break.

Ryan Glover lashed a sublime third after the turnaround before a late consolation for Argyle sub Xavier Amaechi.

Into NINE added minutes at Oakwell where the hosts are piling forward in search of a leveller.

Reyes Cleary has fizzed an effort over the bar from the left of the area after being found by Cameron McGeehan.

It's a winning return to the EFL for York City.

For 60 minutes, that looked unlikely as, although they were knocking on the door, they were trailing to Clinton Mola's against-the-run-of-play opener.

But two goals in three minutes, from Alex Newby and Harry Boyes, gave them the lead, only for a disputed penalty to draw Rovers level.

Boyes then struck again to earn York victory.
