Thousands of elite riders will battle it out at the BMX Racing World Championships in Brisbane this weekend, and you can follow it on the BBC.

Three-time World Champion Beth Shriever, who won in 2025, is the only British entry in the women's elite event, which is being held in Australia for the fourth time.

You can watch all the action from the quarter-finals onward in the men's and women's elite, junior and U23 races on BBC Sport and iPlayer.

Shriever has won three of the past five World Championships but has yet to retain her title.

Will 2026 be the year she achieves this as well as becoming the only rider to win four World titles?

In the men's elite race, GB's Kye Whyte and Ross Cullen will be competing.

Whyte, who won silver at the 2020 Olympics and the 2022 Worlds, will be looking to improve on last season's quarter-final exit.

Cullen was unable to compete last season through injury, but has been in good form going into the championships.

However, the pressure is on as no Briton has won the men's elite race since Liam Phillips in Auckland in 2013.

Australian Saya Sakakibara will be looking to take the crown from Shriever and claim her first World Championship title. Sakakibara is the current Olympic Champion and three-time reigning World Cup champion, and will have the full support of the home crowd.

In the men's elite race, three former World Champions have been forced to withdraw through injury, including reigning champion Arthur Pilard and current Olympic champion Joris Daudet.

Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist, Frenchman Romain Mahieu, is still competing in the diluted pool of riders.

And American Cameron Wood will also be amongst the favourites to become World Champion, after finishing third in the World Cup last year.
