By Saima Naeem
The Bollywood stars were dressed to impress and ready to make the IIFA's in Sheffield a night to remember. With dozens of prestigeous awards up for grabs find out which Bollyblockbuster took 2007 by storm.

Over 12,000 people from all over the UK travelled into Sheffield on June 9-10 to watch their favourite Bollywood stars battle it for a prestigious IIFA award. The Bollywood version of the Oscars was jam packed with star-studded performances by Shilpa Shetty, Abhishek Baschan, Govinda, Salmaan Khan and was televised to over 500 million viewers worldwide.

It's a Bollyblockbuster

Rang De Basante (Paint it Saffron) a film about the youth of India today scooped nearly a dozen awards including best picture and best musical direction. Rakesh Mehra directed the film that took the IIFA's by storm and said "It's been a truly fabulous year and a landmark for the Indian film industry".

The best Actress award went to Rani Mukherji for her role in the movie Kabhi Alvidaa Naa Kehna (never say goodbye), a movie about marriage turmoil, rocky relationships and adultery. Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai, took the award for the 'Most Glamorous Female Lead'.

Heart-throb Hitrick Roshan was cheered the loudest when he walked away with 'Most Glamorous Male' and 'Best Actor' prize for his role in Krishh (There's no one like you). It's one of the first sci-fi films to have been made in Mumbai, in which Hitrick plays a superhero. The second biggest award of the evening went to the musical comedy Lago Raho Munnabhai (keep going little brother), which picked up three Boscars.

The Bollywood celebration spanned into the early hours of Sunday morning with an electrifying stage dance performance from The Big B aka Amitabh Bachan and his son Abishek. To see more Bollywood magic – check out our pictures from the IIFA awards ceremony.
