Football is not the only place Brazilians meet on an equal footing. At the beach everyone hangs out together and this feeling is captured in jazzy music called Bossa Nova.
The most famous bossa nova song ever was ' The Girl from Ipanema' which loads of people have sung over the years, including Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Junior and many others. Ipanema is a neigbourhood in the Brazilian city Rio de Janeiro. The real girl who inspired the song was 18-year old Heloisa Pinheiro, spotted walking to the beach every day by the composers.
Capoeira is an amazing mix of a martial arts with music and song. The musicians play the berimbau, a musical bow with a gourd resonator.www.londonschoolofcapoiera.co.uk/
