THE STREET - BRAZIL - INSTRUMENTS
Luciana - Playing Drums

Instruments
CongasThe Conga
The conga drum is played with hands, and used to play Samba rhythms. A tall one makes a DEEPER sound, a shorter one a HIGHER sound.
Listen ('32) to Gary Kettel play the Congas from Crash Bang Wallop (KPM 122 CD)
ApitosThe Apitos
At Carnival time, the leader of the procession plays a wooden whistle called the apitos.
Listen to the Apitos
CavaquinhoThe Cavaquinho
It looks like a guitar… which has shrunk. The cavaquinho is a tiny guitar with 4 strings.
Listen ('45) to Marçal play 'Ilu Aye (Terra da Vida)' from Samba Brasil (Verve 314 515 761-2)
