Malawi bans all protests

The government says the police are "always overwhelmed" when trying to manage protesters

Malawi government has banned all forms of protests in the country. Defending the decision, Communication Minister Mark Botomani says that recent protests "had not been peaceful" leading to government offices being "vandalised" and business disrupted.

Uganda Airlines, the country's national carrier, takes off again after having been grounded for eighteen years. Former Ugandan pilot and ex-government official Captain Francis Babu thinks that the new airline can hope for a bright future.
