Jun Au is the chef-patron and creative force behind Pomelo, a celebrated modern-Chinese restaurant in Edinburgh. Under his leadership Pomelo has grown from a small neighbourhood noodle spot to a 24-cover dining destination, earning recognition from critics across Scotland.

In 2025 Jun was awarded the Acorn Award, and was named Best Asian Chef in Scotland by the Asian Catering Federation. Pomelo is frequently cited among Edinburgh’s “must-visit” venues and is noted for its bold fusion of Asian technique and Scottish-sourced produce.
Jun moved to Scotland at the age of six and grew up in a neighbourhood with few restaurants or late-night food options. That experience shaped his sense of community purpose - he wanted to build something for the area he grew up in and offer the kind of food culture he wished had existed. Jun credits his mother - who once dreamed of opening her own restaurant - with inspiring his love for food. She taught him to cook from a young age and chose the name of his restaurant.
Jun’s menu celebrates his food philosophy centres on producing food that reflects his heritage and where he is cooking.
