Episode 14
In Scotland, Izzie and Robin help Anne declutter her crammed flat to raise funds for a campervan adventure. But can a dishevelled Hindu deity bring them the fortunes they need?
Izzie and Robin make their way to East Linton in Scotland, to help a former criminal defence lawyer. Anne has made the bold 500-mile leap from a three-bed, chocolate box thatched cottage in Devon to a compact two-bed flat north of the border. Having closed the chapter on courtroom battles and a successful legal career, she’s now focusing on a new role at Edinburgh University, which means she can live closer to her good friend Christine.
The move was meant to be a fresh start but decades of possessions and the emotional weight they carry have turned downsizing into an overwhelming challenge. But there’s no escaping it. Decluttering is vital for Anne as she needs to make her crammed home safe for her one-year-old granddaughter to come and visit.
Izzie takes charge of the mission and uncovers a hoard of fascinating finds. From Chinese zodiac amulets to a 19th-century wooden sea chest, to lots of jewellery including a Victorian Albert chain necklace. But there’s even more to sift through when she finds an attic stuffed to the rafters too.
Robin is kept on his toes restoring a stunning statue of the Hindu goddess Parvati, a symbol of marital bliss and love. With some old fixes and cracked arms, Robin has some intense repairs to do to make sure she is ready for auction. Add to that, a wonky mirror and a wayward angle poise lamp, there’s a lot to do in just one day.
When auction day comes, avid traveller Anne is hoping to raise plenty of cash. Her dream is to buy a campervan and create new memories, enjoying countless adventures with her family. The pressure is on for Izzie to get the bidders into a buying frenzy at an auction in Burnley, to make this road trip dream come true.
