With JB and Lauren’s help, Tanya lets go of her parents’ treasured items to fund a long dreamed of trip to India, honouring her father’s memory and reconnecting with her heritage.
After losing both her parents, dog groomer Tanya downsized to a cottage in the countryside. But she no longer has space to keep all their treasured belongings and has enlisted the help of her dear friend Wendy to support her through this emotional but much needed process.
Tanya feels ready to part with many items that belonged to her late father, Tapan, dating back to when he first moved to the UK from India at just 17. She hopes the money raised at auction will allow her to honour his memory by visiting India for the first time, reconnecting with a heritage she has felt distant from for more than 30 years.
Auctioneer JB is given free rein to find anything that might help make Tanya’s dream a reality. Along the way, he discovers a collection of cherished silk Hermès scarves that belonged to Tanya’s mother, Rita. When Rita died, Tanya didn’t just lose a parent, she lost her best friend. The scarves hold a powerful emotional connection, so will she be ready to part with them when auction day arrives? JB also uncovers antique silver coins and a pair of luxury wristwatches that could make a substantial contribution to her travel fund.
Meanwhile, restorer Lauren has her hands full bringing a Victorian parlour chair back to life after years of service as a favourite resting place for Tanya’s beloved dogs. She also rescues a Gucci photo frame from some well intentioned DIY repairs and carefully restores an Indian folding table before night falls.
On auction day, JB is determined to raise enough to secure Tanya’s ticket to India, but will she be able to say goodbye to her parents’ treasured belongings when the moment finally comes?
