BBC Radio presenters Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie
BBC Radio presenters Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie

Broadcasting live from Manchester, Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie present the final Radcliffe And Maconie on BBC Radio 2 before heading to the weekday lunchtime slot on BBC Radio 6 Music from Monday 4 April. The new programme will become an integral part of 6 Music's daytime schedule and will reflect the rich relationship that the station has with Manchester and music from the North of England.

Guests from the worlds of culture and music, regular features (such as The Chain) and music news will comprise much of the programme's editorial, as well as dialogue and interaction with its audience via social media, email and text.

Meanwhile, sending them on their merry way today are regular TV pundit Noddy Holder; and Manic Street Preachers, who play live following their blistering live set in February for BBC Radio 2 In Concert from their hometown of Blackwood, Wales.

BBC Radio 3 Lunchtime Concert

Wednesday 23 March
1.00-2.00pm BBC RADIO 3

The Czech Skampa Quartet feature in an all-Mozart programme from LSO St Luke's in London.

Today's programme features two of the composer's best-loved works: the Quartet in B flat major nicknamed The Hunt; and The Prussian, one of the quartets Mozart wrote for the King of Prussia, who was a keen amateur cellist. Not surprisingly, the cello has a suitably interesting and prominent part to play.

Performance On 3

Wednesday 23 March
7.00-9.15pm BBC RADIO 3

The BBC Symphony Orchestra continues its 80th anniversary season with two large-scale symphonic works. At the helm is Semyon Bychkov, a conductor much in demand worldwide.

Konstantin Balmont's translation of Poe's The Bells inspired Rachmaninov to create one of his finest works: a scintillating "choral symphony", also called The Bells, first performed in 1913.

The complete version of Walton's First Symphony, meanwhile, was introduced to the world by the BBC Symphony Orchestra in 1935. The troubled emotions in Walton's life at that time are reflected in the turbulence of the piece, before it reaches a jubilant conclusion.

The BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus are joined by soloists Viktoria Yastrebova (soprano), Frank Lopardo (tenor) and Vladimir Vaneev (baritone).

Following this selection there is a performance by the Arcanto Quartet from a concert at Wigmore Hall, London, of Britten's String Quartet No. 2.

Lent Talks Ep 2/6

Wednesday 23 March
8.45-9.00pm BBC RADIO 4

Catholic writer and commentator Austen Ivereigh continues this year's Lent Talks, which sees six well-known figures reflect on different elements of conflict found in the story of Jesus's ministry and Passion from the perspective of their own personal and professional experience.

Austen explores how people can escape the cycle of conflict by becoming a forgiving victim rather than a vengeful one, while at the same time receiving justice.

The Christian season of Lent is traditionally a time for self-examination and reflection on universal human conditions such as temptation, betrayal, abandonment, greed, forgiveness and love. The main theme for this year's talks explores conflict in different forms and how it interacts with various aspects of society and culture.
