TCFC U11 B TeamCADLEY GIRLS 2 TCFC B 5The new girls knew they were up against it but they were prepared to dig deep and battle hard! The game began and both teams were evenly matched. After 10 mins all the hard work paid off with a neat ball from Frankie landing at Abbie's feet for her to score the first of the game! Cadley, however, did not give up and scored two quick goals to take it to 2-1 at the break. The girls regrouped at half time and were determined not to let this one slip away! The girls began passing the ball more fluently and using the space around them well. However, no one was prepared for what happened next! Abbie won the ball in midfield and slid the ball across through the centre to find the sweet and powerful right foot of Joanne, who in turn blasted the ball through the back of the net making the score 2-2. Thornton now became alive and began to dominate the possession. Once again another through ball from Rebecca found Joanne who yet again found the back of the net! The girls continued to work hard with Frankie, Rebecca and Megan clearing everything in sight. TCFC continued to put pressure on the Cadley defence forcing them to concede a corner. A superbly taken corner by Joanne landed in the danger area for Holly to pounce on and score her first goal of the season! Georgia and Hollie rejoined the attack with an immediate impact. A long clearance from Frankie found the sweet left foot of Georgia enabling her to score her first of the season. Joanne was awarded Man of the Match for her magnificent performance and cracking goals! An outstanding team performance girls. You all worked hard for each other and played together as a team! We are all extremely proud of you!! -------- West Lancashire Girls League:U15sBIRKDALE NORTH 2 THORNTON CLEVELEYS 5Sally P gave Thornton an early lead, but a strong Birkdale North team fought back and were rewarded with an equaliser. Sally gave an outstanding performance, and she again put Thornton ahead, and only one goal separated the teams at half time. After the break, it was midfielder Chelsea W who capped an excellent display with a fine goal to increase Thornton's lead. Both keepers made outstanding saves before Leah H scored for Thornton, and the Birkdale striker scored the goal of the match. Both teams hit the woodwork, and it was Phillipa R's goal that gave Thornton the final 5-2 result. Jade T was voted the Player of the match, and Sally P received the Managers player of the match. This was a very entertaining game and was played in good sporting spirit. -------- The views expressed on this page are those of the contributor and the opinions expressed are not necessarily those of the BBC. |
