The Ray Clark Breakfast Show entry to the Pebmarsh Billy-cart Grand Prix. We needed help in constructing a vehicle for our driver, telephone Stu, aka Jensen, and engineer John Owers and his friends have come to our rescue. ![]() Engineer John will build our cart Weld 'un!Not just an engineer, but a lecturer in engineering and a specialist in aeronautics and welding. We might not win, but at least our cart will still be in one piece at the end of the race. John is also part of the 'Gizmo' team, based in Southend, they're due to appear on Scrapheap Challenge soon. On yer tractorPlanet Ray listener Elizabeth told us of her son's collection of vintage tractors. Jeremy French lives in Southminster - in the 'soon to be' breakaway Republic of The Dengie Hundred. Jeremy rescues old tractors, many of them looking like they'll never move again. ![]() I think it's older than me Ray Clark Breakfast Show reporter Natalie Wood went to visit the collection, and it sounded so good that I thought I'd take a look. I spent half of Thursday afternoon playing with tractors - I like to call it work. Help playing audio/video ![]() Earls Colne's island in the sun National Association of Triangle Supporters (NITS)Ray Clark Breakfast Show listener, Brian, sent in a picture of the Earls Colne island. Obviously inland, but if the Essex coast has more islands than most counties then why shouldn't we have them inland too! But Brian's photograph got me thinking - we just don't have many of those lovely grass triangles at road junctions anymore - I think we should preserve them - join up now and fight for your corner!
