Waltzing wonders

Dance guru Phil Meacham casts his eye over the BBC Essex Dancers in Need and gives his guide to the ones to watch out for.

Week two, and couples are progressing well. Ray Clark is now turning in the waltz, and the "cha cha cha" hips are beginning to work. John Hayes and his lovely wife Dawn are getting back into their stride with the cha cha cha, and Etholle George is thinking about throwing in a few lifts! Scary stuff. Generally, the waltz and the cha cha cha are nice easy dances to master in a few weeks, but these guys and girls are really getting the "bit between the teeth".

We have also this week worked on the couple's entrance to the floor, and beginning to put that little bit of extra sparkle to their presentation.

Arrangements for ticket sales have now been announced – Angela and the Helpline Team are preparing for a big day of sales on Monday, 20, October, when it will be "all hands on deck".

Broadcast Assistant Cat Norris is a possible dark horse at the moment – practicing hard with her partner Josh, and moving steadily forward "under the radar" so to speak. Could be a contender for the final placing.

Morning Show presenter Dave Monk is currently on holiday, but judging by last weeks performances, this week away should not hinder his performance one little bit.

Oliver Rogers is another one of the team who is spending every waking hour practicing with his partner Selina, and the results are there for all to see.

The BBC Essex team are now turning into "proper" dancers, and I can't help feeling that rivalry is now beginning to bite between the couples. Will they keep it under control over the coming weeks, or will there be "Blood on the Dance Floor"?
