Ankylosaurus was a strong and tough armoured dinosaur, covered in bony plates.

Where it lived: Ankylosaurus lived in North America.

When it lived: It roamed during the Late Cretaceous Period.

Signature feature: It had a large, heavy club on the end of its tail used for defending itself, not hunting. It likely couldn’t lift its tail up and down, but could swing it powerfully side to side. These tail swings could deliver strong, devastating blows to predators!

Movement: Ankylosaurus was slow-moving most of the time, but may have been able to speed up when in danger.

Diet: Ankylosaurus was a herbivore, meaning it likely ate a wide variety of plants. It probably fed on low-growing ferns and shrubs.

Possible digging ability: Some scientists think it may have used its front limbs for digging.

Extra food sources: If it dug, it might have eaten roots and other plant or animal matter it found underground.
