A number of mountain bike trails could be built on the island
A new mountain bike track is being built on the Isle of Man as the tourism department looks to develop the island as an adventure holiday destination.

The Manx Mountain Bike Club (MMBC) and the Isle of Man government have mapped out a 1km test trail at South Barrule.

If successful the idea will be used in other areas around the island.

An MMBC spokesman said it was a "great place for doing any outdoor activities" and hoped to build on the interest already shown by riders.

Gavin Callow, from MMBC, said: "The better facilities we have the more people will want to come over. There's a lot of scope.

"Our tourism department's aim is to develop an outdoor leisure centre, so we are also looking at outdoor activities like kayaking, walking and climbing."

The club and the tourism department have said they would welcome any feedback from riders and visitors about the bike track.
