The highest purpose-built off-road mountain biking route in England is set to open in Northumberland. A ten-mile (17km) trail has been constructed in the Kielder Water and Forest Park area.
The route, which links the 610m (2,000ft) summit of Deadwater Fell with Kielder village, has different sections for advanced and intermediate bikers.
It offers spectacular views of the Northumberland and Border fells and the Solway Firth in Cumbria.
Former Olympic athlete Steve Cram will be one of the first cyclists along the track when he opens the route on Monday.
The project has been undertaken by the Kielder Trail Reavers, a volunteer trail building group, the Forestry Commission and the Kielder Partnership.
