| ![]() World Service Debates Communicating, talking, discussing, listening - the BBC World Service has been broadcasting to the world for 75 years this December. One of the ways we are celebrating this great achievement is with a series of three debates, all based around the subjects of free speech and a free press; the bedrock of BBC broadcasting values. These global debates are being held in New York, Delhi and Cairo - examining important local and regional questions to do with freedom of expression. Four panelists will debate the topic in front of an invited audience, chaired by well-known BBC presenters. We want the debates to be a free-flow of information, to be energetic and engaging, to really matter and to make a difference. The audience will be there to ask the panel testing questions, but we also want you take part. If you cannot be there in person, then the next best thing is to email us your questions in advance, and we will put them to the panel on the day. Here are the topics we are debating:
