Better pumps and donkey loading systems and water jars. People living in rural areas worldwide have found some solutions to their water shortage problems.

Around the world there are thousands of success stories in the fight to provide clean water to the world's poor. Different projects have solved a range of water supply problems thereby preserving and transforming millions of people's lives.

BBC World Service visited rural areas in Kenya, Ethiopia and Bangladesh to learn about a variety of very different water solutions.
