Tension is mounting in Guinea as Sunday's presidential election run-off approaches.

What began as a peaceful demonstration yesterday descended into chaos later when supporters of one of the candidates, Cellou Dalein Diallo, rampaged in Conakry last night.

This followed a day of protest against the interim military leader, Sekouba Konate, and the head of the electoral commission.

They say he is biased in favour of Cellou Diallo's rival, Alpha Conde.

Our correspondent, Alhassan Sillah watched events unfold.
