In Nigeria, the two chambers of parliament will begin the process of confirming the vice-presidential nominee today.

President Goodluck Jonathan last week named the current Governor of Kaduna State Mr Namadi Sambo, as his choice to be vice-president.

Nigeria's parliament must now confirm his nominee before he can take office.

From Abuja, the BBC's Chris Ewokor reports.
