Charlton and Everton chase Turner
Brian Reid (second left) celebrates a goal for Blackpool
Brian Reid is to hold signing talks with Falkirk
Stirling Albion have rejected cash offers from Charlton Athletic and Everton for Iain Turner but expect the goalkeeper to leave Forthbank soon.

The news came as Stirling's Scottish Third Division rivals, Gretna, completed the signing of Michael Galloway from English outfit Carlisle United.

And Falkirk boss Ian McCall has confirmed that he will hold signing talks with former Dunfermline Athletic and Rangers defender Brian Reid on Friday.

The bids for 18-year-old Turner from the two English Premiership sides were confirmed after Stirling's New Year's Day defeat of East Stirlingshire.

Stirling boss Allan Moore told his club's website: "I think he will leave us soon, nothing is sorted just now, it is up to Turner himself."

Turner added: "I think I would like to make a move to a bigger club soon.

"I have been speaking to the chairman a lot this week. I have only been told that Charlton and Everton have both made bids".

Turner is not the only Third Division goalkeeper who could win a lucrative move during the January transfer window.

Albion Rovers 21-year-old Scott Shearer is also attracting interest from bigger clubs in both Scotland and England.

Gretna had on New Year's Day registered Brian Fairbairn, a young striker, and veteran defender Keith Knox, who had been released by Livingston and Alloa Athletic respectively.

They have now added Galloway on a two-year deal, the 28-year-old formerly of Notts County, Gillingham and Chesterfield having spent some of the season on loan with Conference side Hereford United before being released by Carlisle.

Gretna are also hoping to take striker Brian Wake on loan from United and have enquired about their defender, Lee Andrews.

McCall hopes to have central defender Reid in the Falkirk squad to face Clyde a week on Saturday, the 32-year-old being short of match practice following his release from Blackpool.

Reid started his career at Morton, moved to Rangers then returned to Cappielow before moving to Burnley, Dunfermline then Blackpool, where he captained the club to promotion from the English Third Division.

Meanwhile, Dumbarton expect to sign Gary McCutcheon from Kilmarnock on Saturday following the striker's successful loan spell.

Veteran Partick Thistle midfielder Jamie Dolan is believed to be in talks with First Division Queen of the South.

But former Bolton Wanderers and Raith Rovers defender Steve McAnespie has left St Mirren because the Paisley club could not afford to offer the trialist a permanent deal.
